Lyra could feel the tense ambiance around her as her mate hugged her, "I’m alright, sweetheart." Although she said those words, inwardly, she felt anything but alright. Her head was spinning, she was feeling nauseous, tense, and stressed, yet she couldn’t show it for she feared her mate’s reaction. They would have been already on the edge with her kidnapping fiasco, hence she didn’t dare add more to it. After briefly kissing Noah’s cheeks, she pulled away from the hug before turning towards her other mates.
She frowned deeply when she saw Kyrell and Kaizer about to fight, "We have to stop them’’ a murmur left her lips. That thought made her look at Blake. Surely he would stop them, he understood her the best. She wanted his support now more than ever before, but her hopes came crashing down when she saw Blake in his Beastform. He looked like he was not in a position to see or hear anything. Lyra looked blankly at Blake before turning her attention to Demir who was in his scorpion form. She was met with the same disappointment once again. Why? Why were they this quick to anger? They were not even able to sense her presence when she was standing here right in front of them. Would this always be the case? As her thoughts kept spiraling for the worst, she heard something that caught her attention.
"All of us felt you in danger not long ago’’ Noah explained seemingly reading her erratic thoughts. He looked pained while adding, "They are much more affected than me and Lucas because of their heightened senses. Blake is your first mate, baby dove. You should know him better than anyone" that made Lyra think. She suddenly felt ashamed of herself for judging her mates like this without knowing the full facts. This was who she was, even with Kyrell, she was quick to jump to conclusions. She went on to believe strangers instead of clearing the misunderstanding with Kyrell. Everything happening now felt like her fault.
"Baby dove’’ Noah’s reprimanding voice reached her ears before she could think more, "Stop blaming yourself, it’s not your fault’’
Lucas looked stunned, "You are blaming yourself? Why though? You did nothing wrong’’
Lyra smiled at them sadly before taking a deep breath. Their words right now felt like a world for her. Yes, this was not the time to blame herself or anyone else. Determination shone in her eyes as she glanced at Noah and Lucas before parting her lips, "I have to tell you guys something. Kyrell never betrayed me’’ she took in their shocked reaction before continuing, "He does not have a mate’’
Noah and Lucas looked at each other in confusion before turning to their mate, "How is that possible, baby dove?’’ the former asked, "I clearly smelled Kyrell on that female back then, what you say doesn’t make any sense’’
"And he kidnapped you’’ Lucas chimed in adding what he had observed till now, ’’He took you away and we could sense you in danger...’’ his voice chocked at last, ’’It felt as though our mate bond had perished, for a minute we really felt it....’’
Lyra frowned, "I get what you are saying’’ She could instantly figure out why they had felt that way. That woman Alice, she really was a piece of work for doing so many messed up things. Not only did she fake a mate bond with her tribe’s king but also tried to murder a person. Surely she knew of Lyra’s mates? Why would she do this when she knew how dangerous it was for her and her loved ones to commit these crimes? Kyrell would have found out about her act sooner or later, and the entirety of Beast City would have turned against her for trying to kill a female. Or did she think, she could get away and live a good life? No! no one wishing to live a good life would do such things. It was as though she was sabotaging her own life seeking something else, something Lyra didn’t know about.
