Chapter 119: A Brewing Storm (2)
After taking note of what Lily had written, his heart instantly began to speed up because his mind had imagined the worst scenarios that could take place considering Jeremy as a whole. Even at that, Cassian didn’t want to believe this had something to do with Jeremy until he made it to the mansion, and the red-haired stranger told him to check all the rooms in the mansion, and that his wife was inside one of them.
In all his life, Cassian couldn’t remember the last time someone’s disappearance affected him the way Madeline’s disappearance did. There was a strong urge inside of him that continuously pulled him into finding out where her whereabouts might be, and discovering that she was somewhere in the same mansion only increased his worry and need to find her.
With Orson’s help, he was able to get through each and everyone’s room until he made it to Jeremy’s room. He had specifically informed everyone to keep quiet and not make a fuss as he searched the house with Orson, and strangely, everyone in the family, including the servants were all downstairs except for Jeremy.
When the son of a bitch finally made the biggest mistake by opening the door for him, Cassian made haste and instantly knocked him out of the way so he could step in to search the room as well.
After sighting his wife on the bed, the relief that overwhelmed his face disappeared after taking notice of the awful state she was in. On the bed, Madeline remained weak and almost stripped naked as she barely moved from her position. Cassian couldn’t explain what exactly had snapped inside of him, but before he knew it, he reached for Jeremy’s collar, already feeling it tear against his strong grip as he made him look at him in the eyes.
"What did you do to my wife?!! How dare you touch her!" Enraged to the brim, he didn’t wait to hear Jeremy’s fake side of the story as he landed several punches on Jeremy’s face. He had the intention of killing Jeremy right there on the floor, his fist already getting stained with blood as he didn’t pause for even a second, and he certainly wouldn’t have stopped if he didn’t hear Madeline’s whimper, and that interrupted him as he looked up to see her struggling to move again.
"Maddie." Releasing Jeremy who was already coughing out blood and bleeding through his nose, he headed for Madeline who was still struggling to speak through the clothing that had been tied to her mouth.
Immediately, Cassian freed her mouth from the cloth that had been restricting her screams, and she looked at him with her face all red from having to endure the torture Jeremy had put her through.
"Cas...I...I... I can’t move." Was the first and most heartbreaking words that left her mouth. Her voice was shakened from having to remember that she couldn’t move, and it tore through Cassian to see her like this. Quickly taking off his coat, Cassian wrapped her body with it before taking his hands under thighs and lifting the woman into his arms.
