Chapter 1886 - 1904: Seeing Through the Truth (Part 7)
Huo Kewei listened to Nan Fei’s words, finally calming down. The tightly clenched fist slowly relaxed, revealing a genuine smile to Nan Fei—the kind of smile he only showed to Fu Xinwu and Huo Beijiang.
Nan Fei knew that she was now a part of the Huo Family. How wonderful! She lost one family, lost her past family members, but now she has gained a new family—a family that supports and helps each other for a lifetime.
So, Nan Fei returned the same genuine smile.
"Let’s eat first!" Yin Nan tapped the bowl with his chopsticks, drawing everyone’s attention before clearing his throat, "Just now, Nan Fei was right, Ding Meichen is not difficult to deal with, no matter what method we use, whether or not we can find evidence from twenty years ago. None of those are problems, and Ding Meichen absolutely won’t be able to escape. Now, stop thinking too much, eating is more important, let’s talk after eating."
"Alright!"
"Oh! Let’s eat!"
While the few were talking, the dining hall chef had already prepared the dishes, but the atmosphere in the private room was serious, and Yin Nan and Ji Yuanjie’s men stood guard outside, not daring to come in and disturb. Now as Yin Nan called to eat first, the secretary outside heard and pushed the door open, bringing in one dish after another that hadn’t cooled yet, soon filling the table.
Looking at the dishes that were light yet still delicious and fragrant, everyone’s stomachs were rumbling with hunger, and they all started eating.
Originally, Nan Fei had no appetite, but now either because she was happy or had laid down a heavy burden, she ate half a bowl of rice and drank a bowl of very nourishing soup.
After eating, Huo Kewei left with Yin Nan and Ji Yuanjie, and Fu Xinwu stayed to accompany Nan Fei.
Nan Fei returned to the ward and called the head nurse to administer the IV drip, as today’s infusion still hadn’t been given.
The head nurse was quick and efficient, almost painless when inserting the needle, then looked at Nan Fei’s face with concern, "What did you do today? Why do you look so pale?"
The head nurse looked at Nan Fei’s pale, delicate, and pitiful appearance with heartache. She loved pretty young girls the most, and the girl in front of her was definitely the prettiest she’d ever seen. Unfortunately, the girl didn’t know how to take care of herself at all, with a secretly pale face lacking blood, like a fragile doll.
Nan Fei felt a bit guilty.
"The doctor already said that your eyes are sure to recover, and everything is looking good, advised you not to worry, how can you make yourself so troubled?" The head nurse didn’t expect Nan Fei’s condition was due to overthinking and thought she was worried her eyes wouldn’t heal, hence her distress and loss of appetite.
Nan Fei was worrying about how to explain to the head nurse, then immediately assured, "Thank you, head nurse, hearing you say that puts me at ease, I promise I won’t think too much anymore."
"Hmm! That’s better." The head nurse nodded with satisfaction, then glared at Fu Xinwu, accusingly, "How are you taking care of the patient? I’ve never seen a family member as incompetent as you in caring, what’s the use of you staying in the hospital all day?"
"Ah?" Fu Xinwu was baffled by the question, pointing dumbly to his own nose, looking bewildered.
"What? Did I say something wrong?" The more the head nurse looked at Fu Xinwu, the more displeased she became, nearly blowing her top because of such irresponsible family members, "Look at what you’ve done to the patient! I have to say, you’re even more careless than a man."
