Chapter 1885 - 1903: Seeing Through the Truth (Part 6)
In Ji Yuanjie’s heart, Shen Zian has always been the most important, and no one can compare to her. Shen Zian saved his life; this life of his is given by her, otherwise, he wouldn’t have spent almost a lifetime thinking about her and seeking revenge for her. Just relying on a doubt in his heart, he used a full twenty years to investigate the cause of her death.
Others laughed at him, saying he was crazy. Whenever they heard he was still investigating, they thought his brain was flooded, but he never cared. He acted as if he hadn’t heard anything because, in his heart, nothing was more important than Shen Zian.
"This has nothing to do with you; who could have thought Ding Meichen would be such a person." Yin Nan empathized, patting Ji Yuanjie’s shoulder, "Just like how I didn’t know Ding Meichen would be vicious to such an extent, remembering the petty grievances from twenty years ago."
The two comforted each other briefly, both sighing silently.
"I want to interrupt—" Huo Kewei couldn’t hold back, "The past is in the past, shouldn’t we make Ding Meichen pay now?"
"I spread the news when I came."
Nan Fei pondered briefly, analyzing, "That’s not enough. Based on my analysis of Ding Meichen, she is likely busy fleeing now. If we’re late, she might escape. Ding Meichen has been in the Special Action Department for years, and she must have many resources and connections, making it easy for her to flee abroad before things are exposed."
"We absolutely can’t let her escape." Huo Kewei was most anxious; now that he finally knows who killed his father, how could he remain calm? If it weren’t for the elders present now, he would have personally led people to capture Ding Meichen.
He is determined to make Ding Meichen die without a burial place.
Nan Fei clearly felt Huo Kewei’s surging hatred, worried he might be blinded by it. She yanked his sleeve forcefully, her voice cold and steady, "Don’t be impulsive, Ding Meichen will pay the price. She is but a rat living in filth and darkness, unworthy of soiling your hands."
She didn’t want anyone from the Huo Family to make mistakes, especially for scum like Ding Meichen. Huo Kewei has been a favored child since young; though spoiled, he is not inherently bad, one could even say he is a good person.
It’s too undeserving for Ding Meichen.
Huo Kewei’s bloodshot eyes suddenly looked over, carrying a trace of shock and bewilderment.
Nan Fei’s smile grew gentler, "Trust me, sometimes it’s not death that is the most painful." She even used herself as an example, "Look at my sister, do you think her living now is a good thing?"
Huo Kewei instinctively shakes his head.
Jiang Zhuanzhuan has to be imprisoned for life, how could that be a good thing? That’s not the most painful; what’s most agonizing for Jiang Zhuanzhuan should be Ying Jiuming’s death. Her living truly is more painful than dying, yet she cannot die.
"Exactly." Nan Fei shrugged, "I know you all hate Ding Meichen, but you can’t let hatred blind you. There are ways to deal with people like her that make her wish for life but cannot die."
The last few words Nan Fei uttered casually, but the few big men in the box couldn’t help but shiver.
