Chapter 29
The two families gathered around Chairman Kang Hak-jung were seated so they could face each other. On the chairman's left sat his eldest son, Kang Jin-han, who currently held control over KH Electronics, alongside his wife, Seo Eun-hee, and their son, Kang Se-heon. On his right were his second son, Kang Su-hak, along with Han Mi-sun and Kang In-hyuk.
Although this was a regular gathering, an unusual air of discomfort hung over the room today. It was because of the recent tension between Kang Su-hak and Kang Se-heon.
Having taken charge of the supermarket business, Kang Su-hak wanted to prove his capabilities by launching a new project. In doing so, he attempted to involve KH Electronics.
The project could have proceeded without KH Electronics’ involvement, but without their participation, it would have been nothing more than a short-lived event that made a brief splash. Kang Su-hak desired the same level of impact as Kang Se-heon’s recent success, and to achieve that, he needed the new smartphone that Kang Se-heon had released.
At first, Kang Su-hak personally called Kang Se-heon, only to be told to submit a formal proposal. In response, Han Mi-sun handed over the documents to Kang In-hyuk and instructed him to deliver them to Kang Se-heon, only for him to be turned away at the door.
That alone was frustrating enough, but to make matters worse, even the formally submitted proposal was rejected due to its lack of business viability. As a result, accumulated grievances turned the gathering into an uncomfortable affair.
Kang Su-hak kept clearing his throat awkwardly, while Han Mi-sun continuously glanced at Kang Se-heon, as if choosing her words carefully. Meanwhile, Kang In-hyuk couldn’t hide his conflicted expression.
Amidst the tense atmosphere, only Kang Se-heon continued eating in silence, as if the entire situation had nothing to do with him. His face remained completely indifferent.
"You’ve raised Se-heon well, brother."
Perhaps irritated by Kang Se-heon’s unwavering composure, Kang Su-hak made a remark that hardly sounded like genuine praise. Moreover, instead of addressing Kang Se-heon directly, he directed it at his older brother, Kang Jin-han.
Knowing full well the conflict between his son and his younger brother, Kang Jin-han responded appropriately.
"When it comes to business, even I sometimes have to take a step back and let Se-heon lead. He’s my son, but he’s unbelievably stubborn."
