Chapter 691 691. Welcome
Ensi Demihuman Imperial Empire.
Military HQ Central- Frontlines.
A female Demihuman was seated in a large luxurious office. She was going through a couple of records on her id slot screen.
"This work will kill me one day. Put me on a battlefield, but paper work..." She sighed.
Suddenly, the void rippled. Her gaze snapped towards a particular direction of the room. A teleportation circle appeared in the room. It opened. A figure stepped out. Several others followed.
She recognized them. The special ops agents. They survived? But how did they get a rank 9 runesmith to help them craft a rank 9 teleportation circle for them?
Then one last person stepped out. She looked at him carefully for a moment. Why did this person look so familiar? An image overlapped with the figure of the person who stepped out.
Kailen Darkhaven.
She was extremely shocked. This man was a living legend. What was he doing here? She just could not connect the dots to why the Mad Tactician was with the operatives.
"Good day Colonel. Can you take us to your superior?" Kailen Darkhaven's words snapped her out of her daze.
"Ah.. yes.. sure, right away. Follow me please."

In a large conference room. Several individuals could be seen watching a projection in shock. The room was completely silent. What they were watching was nothing short of terrifying, chilling and something that bordered on the impossible.
The person responsible for the occurrence had already left after requesting for a permanent leave from the Frontlines for two of their most promising special ops agents. With the level of influence he had in the universe at the moment, he didn't even have to say it twice. The moment he asked, the admiral straight away began the process and it was finalized.
Kailen Darkhaven had already left. But the shock the video recording everyone in the room had just watched after he left was something they would never forget.
"He just solved a problem that had been plaguing the empire for several years in a single moment. What he has done has saved the Empire from serious trouble," Admiral Lionheart sighed. "And to think he did it because he was simply looking for the daughters of a friend of his. This man's inner circle is really fortunate to have him on their side. But his enemies are already dead the moment they get on his bad side."
Everyone in the room shared similar thoughts. Kailen Darkhaven was terrifying. He could be amiable and polite even. But he was chaos masked in stillness.
"Trying to compensate him for what he did will not do him any good. He's above such things after all," Lionheart said. "However, the universe must know that Kailen Darkhaven has returned from his seclusion. This is the best way of honoring him for this feat. Spread the video on virtual universe forums."
His secretary nodded. Everyone in the room exchanged nods of agreement.
"Also, the empire has decided to grant him the title of an honorary admiral. I will personally contact him through the virtual universe and discuss it with him. He won't have any responsibilities tied to the empire, but it's the least we can do to honor him," Lionheart added.
The meeting was finally dismissed.

Arman Empire.
Imperial Capital.
Royal Palace.
On the terrace of Kailen's villa. Old Ha was currently worried. He was still waiting for a response. But Kailen had not yet returned. Neither had he heard from Kailen. It had been a day. What was going on?
Suddenly, a figure popped out from the void. Before Old Ha could ask Kailen anything, two figures hiding behind Kailen appeared around him. They had guilty expressions on their faces. There were also tears in their eyes.
Kailen observed the scene with warmth and relief in his eyes.
The Will of the universe was watching a movie in the shadow expanse. She stopped and looked at Kailen.
"This kid, he's really matured compared to when I first met him."
Of course, she didn't say this to Kailen. There was no way she would compliment that kid. It was all in her thoughts.
As for Old Ha, he felt like he was in a dream when he saw his daughters. He couldn't help it. For the first time in a very long time, a tear fell from his eyes.
"Dad… is that you?" Seraphim said softly.
"Dad… we are… we don't know how to… we are—" Seraphina could not even finish speaking when she felt a feeling of warmth encumber her. She was in someone's embrace. Seraphim also felt herself caught in someone's embrace.
Then they heard his voice.
"Whatever apologies you have do not matter to me. All that matters to me is that you are both safe and sound. Welcome home."
Old Ha's voice was full of warmth as he spoke. When his daughters heard his words, they broke down into tears.
"Dad, you still haven't changed a bit."
"We are so sorry for the pain we've caused you."
"Stupid, stop apologizing."
The three shared a touching moment of an emotional reunion. Kailen stood by the side observing everything with a warm smile. What he was observing reminded him of his parents.
"It's a relief I was able to get to them in time. Fortunately, Old Ha didn't have to experience more pain for losing those he cares about," Kailen thought.
He was just about to enter the villa. He wanted to give the three some privacy. But just when he was about to give them some privacy, Old Ha spoke in a very appreciative and shaky voice.
"I don't know how to thank you, Kailen."
Kailen turned to look at him with warmth.
"We are family, old man. There's no need for debts between us. I will be inside."
Old Ha nodded. Seraphim and Seraphina stared at the man before them. He was really a mystery. One minute, he could end civilizations without hesitation. In another moment, he was the most warmhearted person in the room.
"Thank you so much, Uncle Kailen."
Yes, they were older than him. But calling him uncle didn't sound strange at all. Strangely, he exuded the demeanor of an old monster.
Kailen chuckled. "I'm younger than you two. Are you guys trying to kill me by adding more to my age?"
"Ah..." Seraphim and Seraphina were taken aback.
He could even crack jokes? Old Ha chuckled as he looked at his daughters.
"The Kailen the universe knows is different from the one those in his circle know. You will get used to it."
The twins nodded. By this time, Kailen had entered the villa, leaving the trio to catch up.
