Chapter 675. Principal Darkhaven
After Kailen Darkhaven agreed to become the principal of the RiverBlood Empire Academy, it was publicly announced to the academy and the empire.
However, instead of stepping down completely from her position, Theodora RiverBlood was to assist Principal Darkhaven. She would assume the office of the vice principal—an office appointed solely under the instruction of Emperor Legoland RiverBlood.
Of course, the academy mission reward system was still in place. However, some changes were made regarding the principal and vice principal positions by the emperor’s direction. The mission reward system would only work up to the professorship level. This meant that the principal and vice principal could no longer be replaced by someone who managed to earn more points than they did. Their office was one made strictly by appointment between the academy board and the Imperial council, headed by the emperor.
Unless the principal and vice principal decided to step down of their own accord, or something happened that required another be appointed in their place, they would forever remain in that office.
Naturally, this did not raise issues of discontent among the academy staff members. Kailen Darkhaven was their principal. Even if there were to be a way of rising through the ranks with the mission reward system to overtake him, could they do it? The same thought applied to Vice Principal Theodora RiverBlood.
Of course, the principal and the vice principal also had their responsibilities. Just because the mission reward system didn’t apply to them didn’t mean they would sit idle and do nothing. Also, their office came with its benefits too.
But several sharp individuals knew that Kailen Darkhaven would definitely leave all the work in the hands of the vice principal. Someone like him was too focused on cultivation to get involved in leadership positions. Also, the benefits of being the principal were not something that would appeal too much to him.
He most likely agreed to be the principal because of his well-known friendship with Emperor Legoland RiverBlood. Becoming the principal of the academy was a strategic way for the empire to raise the prestige of the academy. After all, Black Flask Darkhaven was friends with a rank 6 supreme stage universe level powerhouse, apart from his terrifying and unpredictable nature and feats.
Several from several regions of the universe were currently flocking to the RiverBlood Empire Academy like never before due to the prestige the principal of the academy held. Legoland and Theodora were very pleased. Kailen’s name carried weight indeed.
At the moment, the universe was also in a state of anticipation for a particular event: the Inter-Empire Secondary Carrier Alliance conference of the high-tier civilizations. Several empires were leaving their regions with their representatives to the General HQ of the SCA in the universe.
Many were currently in thought at the moment. All were praying that Kailen Darkhaven would not represent any of the empires he was affiliated with in the runesmith and alchemy competitions. The outcome of the competition would already be decided if he involved himself, after all.
News got out that the Astral and Arman Empires would not be participating in the conference. However, the RiverBlood Empire would be participating. But when the media asked who will be representing them for the runesmith and alchemy competitions, two names were mentioned:
Mistborne Filix for the runesmith competition and Celina Havenhorn for the alchemy competition.
Kailen Darkhaven was not competing?
Well, it made sense. He was probably focusing on his cultivation. However, no one underestimated Celina and Mistborne. The former was rumored to have a purity level of 91 percent, and the latter had a rune skill proficiency of 92 percent. They were monsters in their own right who had improved as a result of joining the lectures of Kailen Darkhaven. There was a high chance they would make a name for themselves and secure great rewards for their empire.
Discussions concerning geniuses who would be representing various empires brewed, and anticipation lingered in the air.

In a lounge in a villa.
"Why are you going this far?" Kailen shook his head.
A glint of mischievousness flashed through Legoland’s eyes. "The secondary carrier experts of the other empires have been looking down on us for a very long time. Wouldn’t it be nice if you showed up at the last moment and gave everyone a slap in the face?"
Kailen merely shrugged. He didn’t really care. But since he had decided to participate for the empire, if Legoland wanted to use some scheme to slap others in the face, he didn’t care. What mattered more to him at the end was winning first place and becoming a core member of the SCA general HQ.
"Two geniuses from the Helio Empire joined two of your lectures," Legoland said.
Kailen replied: "Oh... interesting."
"Yeah. They were exchange students. One was an alchemist and the other was a runesmith. The former now has a purity level of 93 percent and the latter currently has a rune skill proficiency of 93 percent," Legoland said. "These two will be representing the Helio Empire. They’ve kept these two as a secret and plan to reveal them during the competition. I only found out about this through intelligence channels."
"It seems old Carther has given his grandson, the emperor, the nudge to withdraw their team from the runesmith and alchemy competition too," Legoland added.
"He figured out you are playing everyone. He knows I’m definitely representing the RiverBlood Empire," Kailen said. "He does not see the need to let his juniors compete and waste their time when he’s certain I will make an appearance. That old guy is very sly."
Legoland nodded. "All the same, I look forward to the looks on the faces of everyone. I will be setting off with the influential people of the empire. When will you arrive?"
Kailen replied: "When the stage is set to make an appearance. Isn’t that what you are looking forward to?"
"Bless you, my good sir." Legoland placed his hand on his chest, feigning a bow.
Kailen chuckled and shook his head.
"See you at the conference, Kailen," Legoland said as he walked towards the door.
"Sure," Kailen replied as Legoland shut the door behind him.
"This guy’s too eager to slap the other empires in the faces." Kailen shook his head.
