Chapter 1742 - 1741: A Chance Encounter
"You go!" Zhang Jianguo said.
"Yes! Thank you, Commander!" Qin Jian saluted and turned to leave.
"Commander! I want to go too!" If they were going to fight drug dealers and rescue hostages, how could he be left out?
"What? Are the two of you planning to play hero all on your own?"
"Commander, what do you mean?"
"At dawn, I will leave with Chief of Staff Liu and the main forces. I’ll leave a small squad for you to work with! You’ll coordinate with the local anti-drug unit for a unified operation!" Zhang Jianguo said.
"I can’t wait. I’m heading out first, and you can send Zhao Dong with reinforcements!" Qin Jian said hurriedly.
"Do you know where their people are? Their escape routes? How do you plan to get there? Have you considered all these things?" Zhang Jianguo said in a deep voice, "I fully understand your feelings! But everything must be done by the book!"
"I have my own methods!" Qin Jian tightened the weapons belt around his waist and turned to leave after speaking.

The police car was abandoned at the foot of the mountain. As they got off, An Hao gradually regained consciousness from a semi-comatose state. She opened her eyes and was stunned by the sight in front of her.
Her hands, along with Yan Ye’s and Dr. Lu’s, were tightly bound with ropes. Surrounding them were three men wielding firearms, their faces showing savage expressions and sinister looks.
Standing beside them were Lin Sheng and Mu Mian, both looking visibly tense, clutching something tightly in their hands.
"We’ve been taken hostage!" Yan Ye explained the situation to her in a few terse words.
An Hao recalled the chaotic moments on the road—indeed, amidst the confusion, she had been knocked unconscious by a blow to the head and knew nothing else since.
"Hostage?" An Hao glanced at the man who resembled Mu Mian and suddenly understood why Mu Mian had been so reluctant to return.
The very thing she had fought so hard to conceal turned out to be... this!
"Mu Mian... your father..." An Hao started to speak but was immediately silenced by Mu Mian’s sharp look.
An Hao couldn’t comprehend what Mu Mian’s look meant and turned her gaze toward Lin Sheng instead.
His expression was clearly even more nervous than Mu Mian’s, but the look he gave her transmitted a clear message—do not say a word.
"You know each other?" Mu Qiankun had already noticed the subtle exchanges of glances between An Hao, Mu Mian, and Lin Sheng.
"No, we don’t." Mu Mian shook her head.
"Nonsense! You can fool your father, but you can’t fool me." The burly man pointed at An Hao and said, "This is the woman who took you away that day!"
"Speak! What kind of relationship do you have with my daughter?" Mu Qiankun stepped forward, raising his gun to lift An Hao’s chin and question her.
"Just passing strangers!" An Hao replied coldly.
"Passing strangers? You risked so much for her?" Mu Qiankun clearly didn’t believe her.
"Of course! I’m a military doctor! A soldier and a doctor. No matter from which standpoint, I couldn’t stand by and let her be bullied!" An Hao shot a sidelong glance at the burly man and continued, "This man wanted to take Mu Mian away, and she clearly showed signs of resistance! Naturally, I stepped in to help. What if he was lying and harbored ill intentions toward your daughter?"
"So, are you saying you’re quite kind-hearted?" Mu Qiankun sneered.
"That’s right! That’s just how kind-hearted I am. But how do you treat people with good intentions? Is this your answer?" An Hao raised her bound hands and shook them slightly.
