Chapter 1743 - 1742: A Bit of a Chance of Winning
"Since you’re so kind, help us all the way, send the Buddha to the West! Perfect timing, you can help us escape the police pursuit! Once we’re safe, you’ll naturally be safe too," Mu Qiankun said with a sinister grin.
"Kun, that’s enough. Let’s not waste time talking with them! If the cops catch up, we’ll be in serious trouble!" the big guy urged Mu Qiankun.
The sound of police sirens behind them grew closer and closer, making the big guy increasingly anxious about their chances of getting away.
"Big guy, at this point, don’t lose your nerve! Let me tell you, here in the remote forests and mountains, this is Kun’s domain!" Rat sneered wickedly, "You haven’t done deals with Kun before, so you don’t know his skills."
"What kind of skills does Kun have?" The big guy truly was clueless.
Mu Qiankun smirked and said, "You two keep an eye on them! If anyone dares disobey, just shoot them dead! There’s three of them anyway—one down still leaves two!"
"Alright!" The big guy and Rat, guns in hand, kept their weapons trained on their backs, guiding them deeper into the dense forest, heading toward the towering layers of trees and mountains ahead.
They walked for an unknown amount of time when, in the distance, the sound of explosions boomed from behind, accompanied by hair-raising screams echoing through the mountain valleys, followed by sporadic gunfire.
The sound sent chills down An Hao’s spine, leaving her drenched in cold sweat.
Born in a peaceful era, these things were entirely foreign to her. Witnessing real warfare unfold before her eyes filled her with an overwhelming sense of dread.
Yan Ye noticed An Hao’s unease, turned to her, and quietly asked, "Are you okay?"
"Mm," An Hao nodded, turning her head to look at Yan Ye. Cold sweat dripped slowly down her brow. "I was thinking about how many innocent lives have been lost in this explosion."
"Hah! Just worry about yourself for now. You still have time to care about others?" Rat laughed maliciously, turning his gaze toward An Hao. His wicked eyes roved over her from head to toe.
An Hao shot him a glare before averting her gaze elsewhere.
"Rat, what’s with the explosions behind us?" the big guy asked.
"Kun knows how to make explosives! You think he’d lead us into this mess without some backup?" Rat replied smugly.
"Well, that’s surprising!" The big guy exclaimed in delight.
While Mu Qiankun hadn’t yet caught up, An Hao, Yan Ye, and Doctor Lu exchanged quick, meaningful glances.
Among the three of them, Yan Ye had only recently joined the military after studying abroad, so he hadn’t learned much combat skill, making his fighting ability relatively weak.
Doctor Lu was a military medic. His physical condition was decent, but going one-on-two might be a challenge. Though the three of them had a slim chance of taking on four criminals, they had to weigh their options carefully.
If they could manage to injure a few of them and escape amid the chaos, there was still a faint glimmer of hope.
This plan seemed worth a shot!
Lin Sheng had been quietly observing their movements. Noticing the glances exchanged among the trio, a sudden idea struck him.
He gently nudged Mu Mian and gestured toward her foot, while his face contorted into an expression of pain.
Mu Mian instantly understood.
Suddenly, her foot twisted sharply, her ankle giving out. She stumbled and fell hard to the ground.
"Mianmian, what’s wrong?" Lin Sheng shouted, instantly drawing the attention of the big guy and Rat.
