Chapter 455: Rich and wealthy are two different things
Like anybody else that was new to any place, Chi Lian spent the entire car ride looking out of the window at the attractive and busy streets of LA. She saw street dancers, clowns, mimes, buskers, instrumentalists and so many other interesting sights. She also noticed that people here loved taking their dogs on walks a lot. You would not go ten seconds without spotting a dog that was on a leash tugging along an exhausted owner or an excited child.
"It’s beautiful, isn’t it?" Ian Smith that had squeezed himself next to her in the car commented.
"Beyond beautiful." she answered. "A lot of people wear sandals in this city." Not just the sandals, the shorts were common too among both the men and women.
"Perks of living in a certified beach city, I swear you cannot take two steps in this city without stepping on a grain of sand. You studied in our empire for one whole year didn’t you make it out to LA even once?" he asked.
The original Chi Lian did indeed study here as an exchange student for an entire year but it was not in this city, it was in another one.
"I went to Minnesota state University." she answered. "I was so focused on my books, part time job and pregnancy to make it out here as a tourist. If I had moved here right from the start I have a feeling that I might have tried my hand at acting."
If she had transmigrated into this Chi Lian’s body around that time with no system and an impoverished family then she would either have gone into acting to make quick money or returned home at the end of the school year to sign up for the army and do what she was most familiar with.
"It’s not too late if you are still interested." Ian told her. "I have a feeling that you would be great at it."
She smiled at him, appreciating his compliment but she laughed it off. "My life is too good and I am too busy. Acting has never been my dream, I am happy to empower those who have it as a dream though. Owning shares in an entertainment company and investing in the entertainment business is a wonderful move."
