Chapter 420: The Hong family again
Chi Rui stared at his sister with a blank glaze, trying to assess what she meant by her words. If he did not go, the narrative out there would blacken their name. They were not thieves and no composer or singer would work with them if they were branded thieves.
"What do you mean sister?" he asked her.
"The lawyers should handle everything to do with Du Moxi. If you deny her allegations without proof you are just drawing more attention to the matter and giving her what she wants. Maintain your silence and let the law do all the talking. She is about to be hit by a lawsuit which will leave her penniless or close to it. Let’s see how much she yaps when that happens."
Even though Chi Lian’s explanation made sense in so many ways, if Du Moxi pretended to commit suicide or did so they would be condemned by the public for going overboard.
That’s what he thought and it is exactly what he told her.
"On please!! Du Moxi has managed to find herself a rich backer. The person that made an introduction between her and a manager from glory entertainment is Hong Yibo, a member of the Hong family." she tapped her phone and showed Chi Rui his picture. "He is one of the many second generation heirs of the Hong family, you remember them from B city, they own HTV."
"I remember them." Chi Zimo shouted. "This must be revenge because you contributed to the exposure and arrest of one of their own when you showed that video of him setting a man on fire. Wow, they must have looked for the easiest way to bring you down and Du Moxi was the weakest link in the chain."
Occasionally, Chi Zimo blabbed blindly and stumbled on the truth. It was almost as if he had the gift of discernment and foretelling. But usually after saying something sensible he would add or do something foolish and the air of mystique around him would vanish.
"Maybe not the weakest but the easiest." Chi Lian answered.
