Chapter 343: Who locked the door?
Grandpa Wang was quick to respond to Jian Yu saying, "Girl, I didn’t ask my question to demean you. You have been introduced as our grandson’s girlfriend. I believe it’s only natural for us to want to know more about you."
His answer was received with a number of different reactions by those at the table. Some like the Jun’s were surprised, others like Chi Lian and her brothers were relieved.
They had been forewarned about their grandfather’s preference when it came to choosing spouses for his children and grandchildren. Chi Rui was confident in his choice because she a princess but Chi Wei was worried because Jian Yu was an actress.
"Sorry," Jian Yu replied while looking at grandpa Wang apologetically but bravely. "I have heard that your Wang family is picky when it comes to the family background of the spouses of their children. I overreacted in a moment of misjudgment and I apologize."
"Yes grandpa, Yu-Yu did not mean to offend you." Chi Wei added.
Madam An pinched her husband’s thigh underneath the table and she sent him a warning with her eyes. Husband and wife shared a moment of silent communication.
Grandpa Wang then asked Chi Wei, "Who said that I was offended? And all that stuff about the Wang family being picky is a lie."
Old master Jun snorted and Grandpa Wang glared at him fiercely.
"Girl, even if the Wang family has some restrictions and requirements, this is the Chi family and not the Wang family, my grandson is a Chi and whatever choice he makes I will respect it." Grandpa Wang looked at Jian Yu and further explained.
He and his wife had already had this conversation. It would be ridiculous of them to enforce the Wang family rules on their daughter’s family when she was not raised a Wang. At most they could give an opinion but nothing beyond that.
Moreover, he quite liked this girl because she was bold and not afraid to speak her mind. She could be molded into the future matriarch of the Chi family if the relationship was a success and she married into the family.
