Chapter 247 Request

"What's with that smile on your face? Did you hear what she said? You're going to be strong enough to face the Demon Queen"

"I'm going to try my best," Roman replied.

"Really, and does your best involve learning mana control or mana efficiency?" Evelyn asked, and Roman couldn't speak, then she looked towards the door.

Roman wanted to protest, but he stopped himself and began walking slowly towards the door, showing he was tired, but Evelyn wasn't buying it.

Roman eventually saw himself out. He needed to continue his training, which was supposed to be the only thing on his mind right now.

"This is moving faster than we can control?" Victoria spoke as she turned towards Evelyn.

"I know"

"Then what is the plan? Surely the plan isn't to babysit some kids chosen by artifacts around the world, or is it? Avalon isn't the only one with artifacts; also, the artifacts in Avalon might find their way to another Kingdom. What do we do about this situation?" Victoria snorted.

"I'm aware of everything, and what would you have us do, march to Vernhall and defeat the demon generals stationed there, even with our strength, it'll be near impossible," Evelyn replied.

"Near impossible, so you do realize we have a chance... I said this same thing a month ago, we should storm Vernhall with our forces, you of all people know the horrors we have seen, do you want children who are just learning their place in the world to face the same?" Victoria asked.

"We were children then, we were learning our place in the world when we were forced into war, to defend the kingdom. What do you think I should tell the Queen? We have to attack now? And if we fail, or worse, we die, what happens to the kingdom then?" Evelyn replied.

"We have to handle this situation; we still have to hope that some of the artifacts find powerful people like Sonia, and we can also have Karin, the blood mage"

"So we wait, we won't be given an invitation to war, just like how the Frontlines were skipped, demons would raid Avalon if we do nothing," Victoria scoffed.

"Are you angry Victoria? Angry that an artifact picked a child?" Evelyn asked.

"Why would I be angry about that? You think I need an artifact to be considered powerful? If you want to insult me, you should start with my family," Victoria spoke as he faced away.

"Victoria, I know you're angry, but this is the time we need to work together to..."

"Together, did you see what happened when the artifact took over Sonia's body, we were brought to the ground, we couldn't do a thing, and something as powerful as that was scared of the Demon Queen, haven't you thought about it, when the battle truly comes to Avalon, we won't be able to do a single thing" Victoria spoke as she stood up and walked away.

Evelyn couldn't question her reasoning; the artifacts were definitely strong, but that power wasn't Sonia's, and couldn't be wielded. In the case of Ava, Evelyn wasn't even sure she could be trained to reach her height before the battle.

Victoria pushed the door open and stepped outside, where she saw Roman practicing spell circle and mastering mana control.

She chuckled a little before walking towards him, "How's your training coming along? I see Evelyn is trying to teach you mana efficiency"

"Yes, but she didn't give me any tips. Can you give me a tip on how you mastered it?" Roman asked.

"I didn't learn mana efficiency. Evelyn was the one who came up with it, and she showed me how she did it, and I followed suit. Tell me Roman, what do you want in life? I know it might seem strange to ask, but genuinely, what do you want?" Victoria asked.

"Isn't it the same as everyone, a good life, a peaceful life free of worry, where I can explore the wonders of the world without limits, a harem of women by my side" Roman uttered with a smile on his face.

"A nice idea, but you know it'll never happen, because of a certain creature we've never met, a creature all humans are afraid of? Are you afraid of demons Roman?"

"What's not to be afraid of? They're pretty brutal, still, that doesn't mean I won't fight, after all, my mission is pretty much to kill the Demon Queen"

"You know this by now, but I can peer into a person's abyss and see their potential, but I've never been able to see yours. Can I make one request of you? If you fulfill it, I'll teach you how to increase your mana capacity," Victoria spoke.

"I thought Evelyn was against it; that's the reason she introduced me to mana efficiency, but I'm intrigued, so what is the request?" Roman asked.

"I'm going to punch you with all my strength. You just need to block. You can dodge if it's too much for you, but that would mean you have failed the request"

"So you want me to take a full attack from you, isn't that dangerous?"

"Yes, it is, and I'm not going to use my speed. If you can't take it, then dodge. Also, you can use any enchantments and spells you want. I'll wait"

"If I may ask, what are you hoping to achieve with this?" Roman asked.

"I'm merely showing you the kind of power you'll be up against, not that I could compare, but it's a nice way to give you an idea,"

'What the heck is she thinking? Surely she isn't thinking of incapacitating me right, it's Victoria, she wouldn't think of something like that, if it's bad news, I'll simply move away'

[Protection Rune]

[Protection Enchantment]

[Blood Barrier]

Roman cast all three spells and dug his feet into the ground. Victoria walked towards him, stopping just in front of him, then she raised her hand and moved it backwards, positioning herself for a punch.

Just before the punch, she used her other hand to remove a ring from her finger, and then infused mana in her hands.
