Chapter 248 Safe Way
Just before the punch, she used her other hand to remove a ring from her finger, and then infused mana in her hands.
Roman couldn't believe what he was sensing. The amount of mana Victoria was generating was almost nonsensical. There was absolutely no way he would be able to take this punch; there was no point in his blocking, as he was definitely going to be torn apart.
But it got even worse as Victoria compressed the mana into her fist. Roman couldn't believe he was happening but he knew one thing for sure: if he took this punch head-on, multiple bones in his body would shatter, and his hands might not survive the attack.
The door to the room opened the next moment as Evelyn stepped out along with Sonia, who was already sleeping, dashed outside, "Victoria, what are you doing? Stop that immediately," Evelyn shouted.
Sonia didn't speak; a smile simply formed on her face. Her thoughts went back to Victoria's battle against Karin before she discovered the artifacts. If Victoria had this amount of power, why didn't she use it then? That was the question she asked herself.
"Stay out of it," Victoria replied as she continued to refine the mana in her fist, getting ready to throw the punch. The more mana she refined, the more Roman's body was telling him to run away.
His breathing had gotten heavy, and the thought of her striking his shield placed immense pressure on him; still, Roman wasn't backing down, as he knew Victoria wouldn't hurt him.
"Here I come," Victoria spoke, and Roman readied himself, and then she struck.
'Shit, I'm definitely going to die'
The moment Roman sensed her punch coming, he immediately poured the rest of his mana into his [Blood Barrier] in an attempt to reduce the force, but still, as her punch collided with his barrier, Roman saw himself high up in the air.
Roman closed his eyes at that particular moment and felt himself being lifted off the ground. When his eyes were finally opened, he was in the air. He was thrown so high up he couldn't believe Victoria struck him square in his shield, but at least nothing was broken, and then he began falling back down.
'Fuck, I don't have anything to break my fall, I'm sure I'll be caught, I'll be caught... I'll... Be... Shit...'
"Miss Victoria, help!!!" Roman screamed as he fell, but Victoria didn't move; instead, she turned towards Evelyn and gestured towards Roman.
Evelyn shook her head, and the next moment, Roman felt a pair of arms wrapped around his body as Evelyn lowered herself with wind magic and landed right in front of Victoria.
"Really, was your objective to scare him? You think he would run away from a fight? I've studied Roman in the short time we're together, and I can tell he's determined," Evelyn spoke as she placed Roman on the ground.
"You thought I wouldn't be able to survive your punch?" Roman chuckled, still breathing heavily.
"What punch?" Victoria asked.
"The punch you threw just now," Roman replied.
"You're mistaken, Victoria didn't throw a punch, she stopped just before it hit you, it was actually the shockwave of infusing that amount of mana in a punch that tossed you away, you can't really think you can take a punch from Victoria," Evelyn spoke, and Roman sat on the ground.
'I had a feeling, but I thought she just went easy on me. Turns out she didn't really throw a punch. At least I've seen the gap I need to overcome, and since I saw Victoria's request through, she's going to help me with my mana'
"I can tell Roman is determined too, but I don't think he understands the scale of the situation. Would you be responsible if Roman gets killed, or you haven't thought about that yet?" Victoria asked.
"Can you not talk about that right in front of him"
"I don't mind," Roman replied, and both of them turned towards him.
"What do you mean you don't mind? Have you given any thought to what might happen if something goes wrong? You might die, you might get permanently injured, your body might be destroyed, and at the hands of demons, you're not going to die a painless death," Victoria spoke.
"Yes, I know, but is there a world where I can avoid this? Demons are not going to sit back till everything is in order before they attack. I've already joined the fight, and I'm not going to back down," Roman replied.
"I never knew a male like this existed. When I heard a male awakened as an S-rank, I thought he was going to be a breeding tool for the kingdom. I can see why the founder would want you to inherit his will and ability," Sonia spoke with a small smile on her face.
"I've decided to show Roman the method to increase his mana capacity. I'll tell the Queen tomorrow to see what she thinks about it, but either way, I'm still going through with it," Victoria spoke as she walked away.
Evelyn didn't reply; she knew it was futile to argue with Victoria, even if tomorrow the Queen forbade her from going through with it, she would still go through with it regardless, so the best Evelyn could do was to assist her.
"You can rest now, we'll continue tomorrow," Evelyn said, turning towards Roman, who was already lying on the ground. He was too tired to stand on his feet as both his stamina and mana were exhausted.
"Evelyn right? If you're planning to increase his mana capacity, then I know a way to help," Sonia spoke, and Evelyn turned towards her; even Roman sat up to listen to what she had to say.
"What way is that?"
"I assumed you're going to use the mana overload technique. One of my members found a safe way to overcome the first two mana overloads. After that, it's up to the person"
