"Noah!" I laughed, rising on my feet "You cannot say that. I committed a grave sin and I need to atone for it,".
"Seriously, Selene," he dragged me back to him "All these things are not necessary but if you insist, I cannot stop you and it’s the best thing ever to see that you genuinely care for me. to say the truth, these few days it has not been easy dealing with home – my sister won’t even talk to me. Won’t take my calls... my dad has gone mum on me and is keeping it professional. Not to talk of the pack elders and officials... one slip and they’ll have me thrown away from this seat,".
"Thrown away?" I eyed him curiously "What are you talking about? You became King based on inheritance. Your dad was a Grand Lycan and by right, his heir should rule in his stead,".
"Yes, that is correct but it doesn’t always work. If the heir of the current King is not found worthy to rule, the Pack elders and Officials have the right to deny him of that position. And if a sitting Lycan King misbehaves, they also have a right to petition for his removal. That’s how things are done around here,".
"Who are they petitioning to?" I asked.
"To Brooke’s father. He comes from a long lineage of Kingmakers and aside from me, who is the sovereign head in the pack, he’s also one and his decisions most times could override mine,".
"Wow! I am hearing this for the first time. Is that the reason why you didn’t want me to do that to Brooke because of her father?"
"Yeah!" he nodded "But don’t worry, I haven’t done anything yet to warrant that. Still, it’s a good thing to show them how remorseful you feel about everything that happened. And, Selene..." he jerked my jaw towards him, his green eyes hovered around my face "I love you, so much. More than anything I hold dear in life,".
I feigned being touched and murmured "I love you too, Noah. I promise, I do..." I added.
"I know!" he nodded "then clasped my hands instead "I know you don’t want to talk about babies now but our anniversary is coming soon and we could start trying for babies. Maybe you could get off the pill and take vitamins... things that women take,".
So, I had from now until our anniversary which is like three months away. Whatever I have to do, I must hasten up at this point.
