Tangled Hearts - The Alpha's Baby Mama

Chapter 174: They’re grown men, time will heal them all...

Selene POV

There is something no one tells you about revenge – it turns you into a loner.

I fought the angry tears at the corner of my eyes as I marched towards Noah’s room. I hated that I was doing this but if I had another way to save my children, I would choose it. Why do women have to be silent about cheating mates? Be the first one to reach out or ignore for peace to reign? If it was me in Noah’s shoes, everyone would be acting as if I killed someone.

What is more, this thing feels like a natural order of things around here. But not for long...something needs to be changed and I know that if I can change more than a century-old curse, I could do this too. When I got to his door, I took a deep breath, trying to control my emotions as I stood there. As I was about to knock on the door, I felt someone’s presence beside me.

Startled, I turned and saw it was Brooke. She had a satisfied smile as she turned to face me too.

"I must thank you for the little stunt you pulled today... it was so satisfying to see you show the people how unstable and emotional you are and it benefits me in the end, Selene. Do you think you can be a Luna... if you don’t have a lid over your emotions? Nobody wants a weakling to rule over them. The people always want to be bossed around, commanded... you... forceful things... I don’t know if it’s a thing with werewolves but Lycans are not the same,".

She was trying to rile me... even though she was right in everything she was saying but I was going to starve her of the attention she was seeking. Ignoring her, I raised my hand and knocked firmly on the door. Some seconds later, Noah appeared. He tensed when he saw both of us together as his eyes travelled from one person to another.

"Can we talk?" I asked, my voice above a whisper.

"There’s something I need to tell you about too, Noah," Brooke said also sounding less like the vicious woman she was a while ago. More than anything, she sounded as if I had just beaten her. "It’s about the other thing that day and..." she paused as her eyes trailed to me as if she was worried that I wasn’t supposed to hear something.
