Chapter 171: She’s pregnant!
Selene POV
I tried to control the tears at the back of my throat as I walked to my office.
I was trying to breathe and smile and act like a Luna... don’t forget... like a mini-god who is bent on carrying out revenge on her cheating mate. As I reached for the knob of the door, I paused, noticing that the door was slightly ajar.
I had been so wrapped up in my emotions that I didn’t notice Kragen’s scent. Rolling my eyes, I quickly wiped off the worst of the tears, took a deep breath and entered the office. He standing at the big French windows in my office, his back to me.
"Now is not a good time," I said as I breezed into the office, trying to sound normal. I busied myself with trying to fix myself a cup of coffee as I continued to address Kragen who hadn’t moved a muscle since I entered the room. "Noah threw me an induction party this morning and things didn’t go smoothly but that’s the least of my worries now. I need to find another Beta in the meantime, there’s a lot to do. I noticed that the Pack’s housekeeper has been stealing for years and it’s because Noah doesn’t pay attention to all those things. Don’t get me started on the accountant and...".
"Do you love him?" Kragen interrupted midsentence, his back still to me. His voice was a whisper that I had to strain my ears to pick up what he said.
My heart began to pound wildly in my chest and I was so grateful that Kragen couldn’t read someone like me if not we wouldn’t be having this conversation. "Love? Is that even a word that exists in my dictionary?" I chuckled settling on the couch in the room as I began to flip through a proposal barely registering the words on it.
"Selene!" he turned to me. This time, he had taken the body of a woman. "Don’t play dumb with me. You know damn well who I am talking about and what I mean. Do you love him?" he repeated.
"Love who, Kragen?" I arched my brow "We’ve talked about always speaking in riddles. If there’s something you want to tell me about someone, you should tell me straight... why are you trying to stress me with wild guesses,".
"Fuck!" he said under his breath and started towards me "Noah... Do you love Noah?"
