Chapter 170: Brooke’s test result…
Selene POV
"Selene!" I heard Noah screech behind me as we walked the corridors leading to my bedroom.
He was pissed off... clearly in rage. Since we finished the meeting, he has been trying to talk to me but I kept evading him and right now, all I wanted to do was to go back to my room and lock myself in. I didn’t want to seem in a hurry... although I looked calm, I was walking as fast as I could to get away from him.
"Selene! You stop there right now!" his voice reverberated through the corridor again. I could see a few of the servants stopping to give us curious glances. I risked a fearful glance over my shoulders, noting that his usually, warm green eyes looked dark with fury. His hands were clenched to his sides as he continued to march towards me.
It was so unlike Noah to openly display his anger for something but the fact that he was doing, it could only mean that he was really angry. A small part of my mind urged me to simply drop my head and shed a few tears to show remorse but I refused to cower so easily. Squaring my shoulders, I continued walking briskly.
"Selene!" he yelled again. Just a few more steps and I’ll be in the safety of my room. Almost at the door, someone suddenly reached out for me roughly and slammed my back against the wall, knocking out the breath from my lungs. When I turned it was Noah. I stood my ground as he closed the space between us, I could practically see smoke from his nostrils.
"What did you just do, Selene? Why did you choose to disgrace so much today of all days? Is this how you pay me for doing you a favour? My baring me in front of everyone? What is your aim? What did you want to achieve? To turn my subjects against their King with your treacherous tongue,".
He lashed out at once, holding me firmly against the wall. "Answer me, Selene..." he growled slamming his free hand against the wall beside my head. The wall vibrated and cracked at the impact of his hand but I didn’t even flinch. I just stood quietly staring at him.
Fearful tremors were coursing through my body. Up this close, the fury radiating from Noah’s body was suffocating. I could see the flames in his pupils that had gone black, an indication that his wolf was doing all the action now and also a sign of his anger. Yet, even in my fear, I refused to lower my gaze.
