Selene POV
"Dad!" Noah suddenly screeched stopping his father mid-sentence and making everyone in the room turn to him with shock written all over their faces. It was so unlike Noah to be out of character whenever he was outside. "I mean..." he ran a hand over his hair "Grand Lycan there is no need to contest whatever Luna Selene has presented to us, I have decided that the Office of the Luna will become functional. She already has a Beta and just so you all can be at peace, I’ll keep an eye on her,".
I didn’t know between calling his father ’Dad’ or Noah approving my request without the opinions of the pack Elders and officials – which is more outrageous but I know for a fact that the second declaration by Noah wasn’t welcoming at all. If anything, they all turned to him as if he had suddenly developed another head. I could see the confusion in their eyes as they all stared at him.
"It is not for you to decide, Your Majesty," his father left his seat and started towards him "This is a delicate matter, you cannot simply grant it due to sentiments. You cannot run a pack because of that. Besides...".
"Yes, I can, Grand Lycan," Noah threw himself to his full height easily towering over his father who was at least five or six inches shorter than him "I am the Lycan King of the Easter Region... I decide what goes and what comes. If my wife wants to help me because she sees I have too much burden, how can I refuse her? You bunch sit in your houses all day, not caring how I fare waiting for me to make the tiniest of mistakes so you can come drumming dead laws to me?"
"Noah!" his father growled piercing the already gloomy room with unbearable silence "Your wife should be more concerned with producing an heir for your Kingdom and not joining pack politics. It is not a woman’s feat. No one has said anything about her marrying with baggage since you love her and are convinced that she’s your mate... it’s been months since you married, shouldn’t you be more concerned that there is no child yet?"
Where I stood, it was as if some splashed cold water all over me. I hadn’t anticipated that and I knew somehow that it was going to come up one of these days, I didn’t think it would be here... right now... in front of these vicious, old whims staring at me with satisfaction on their faces and I knew Noah’s father had endured it so much for him to say such delicate thing here... it was so unlike him.
"How dare you father!" Noah’s voice reverberated through the room shaking it, his voice thickened and undoubtedly it was his wolf doing all the talking now. He was furious "How dare you talk about the My Luna in such a manner and before these people?" his hands swept the hall towards the elders.
Wait! Was he defending me? I didn’t expect that. Seeing that so much attention was on me, I decided to be decent enough to act like I was hurt. I lowered my heart pretentiously, putting a hand over my eyes as if I were shielding them from seeing me cry. Things were going much better than I expected.
