Chapter 45: Genius.
Jimmy and Misa immediately took over the whole investigation and sent home everybody who was not part of the DSA, and the work began. They put away every evidence that could connect Joseph to anything, they deleted all the CCTV footage, as well as literally stripped out the dashcam and bodycams of the officers, putting them into bags that only purpose was just to go into storage and be there until they can use it or maybe fabricate another crime with it.
Then next came the harder part... to gaslight the shit out of people that what they saw was not Joseph Cassian but someone else. Now, this was almost an impossible thing to do, and of course, it was because they saw it with their own eyes... but the DSA had some technique to actually do it, which was manipulation and threats, and it was understandable to everyone that if they ever spoke out about it, then shit was going to go down, they suddenly disappear with all of their families, but still, it wasn’t a technique that worked fully, but they are the DSA.
Would the public believe in an agency in the government or some ladies, security guards who were in shock, frozen down... well, maybe yeah, those who don’t trust the government... so there came the last sparkle.
Reconnect the dots in a way that they are brought in evidence that are from a whole other investigation, maybe from someone who is already in jail... but it worked flawlessly and the reason for it was the bigger picture.
Three leaders died, drug empire leaders who had their hands in many businesses, with many connections... so nobody would be surprised if they had connections to, let’s say, a big time smuggler who was arrested. In this way, they can fabricate a story that he was arrested because Trevor or one of them gave information about him, so in retaliation, he sent a hit team to kill all of them.
It could work, no, it will work, because the general public just wants to live in peace and comfort, and when the information would come out about what exactly happened, that it was a drug empire and gangster hit, then even though all the information is a lie, a fabrication, manipulation, they will not give a fuck about it, but be happy that, gangsters died, and once again, the city became safer, for them, for their children, for everyone.
So that’s what they were exactly doing, though there were legitimate questions in their minds.
Why did Joseph act this fast and this brutal? Why is he reckless letting himself be captured by cameras, letting himself be seen by people? What is he exactly going to do after it?
Well, even though the first and second question seemed to be a mystery, the last question answered it all.
It was obviously retaliation for what they have done to him, but the most important of it, it was his first steps to start building up the family.
