Chapter 320: Got Your Back
It was another morning, and William joined the family for breakfast. He planned to share the DNA test results regarding his sister-in-law with everyone. Last night, he had thought about telling Sanya, but after several rounds of making love, she had fallen asleep, completely exhausted.
By the time he woke up, Sanya was already out of bed, managing the household as usual. She always woke early to oversee meal preparations, and with Chef Philip on vacation, she had taken full charge of the kitchen.
Sanya was also accompanying his father to chemotherapy sessions alongside Aunt Vernice, giving Uncle Ben some much-needed rest. Uncle Ben had been heavily involved with GIS recently, helping William with it while he handled the family business while also keeping an eye on his brother’s condition.
During breakfast, the conversation was light until Aunt Melanie finally broke the silence. "Is the DNA result ready?" she asked, her voice tinged with curiosity and apprehension.
William nodded, feeling the weight of their expectant gazes. Taking a deep breath, he announced, "The result is in. Tim is not her father. The probability was zero."
Gasps echoed around the table. Aunt Melanie clutched her chest in shock, while Sanya exclaimed, "I knew it! I’ve always suspected he wasn’t her real father, especially with the way he, Sylvia, and Dina treated her!"
William nodded in agreement. "Exactly. Yesterday, I also requested a DNA test to verify her connection to Kaila Perez, her mother. I want to be thorough and make sure she has the full truth. We’ll know the results later today."
Aunt Melanie took a deep breath, her expression a mix of sadness and relief. "It’s heartbreaking to learn she’s not biologically ours, but honestly, I’m relieved too. She deserves better than the cruelty of Tim, Sylvia, and Dina. I love her like my own niece and always will, but she deserves to know where she truly comes from."
William’s face softened. "She has us... that will never change. But you’re right. She deserves to know the truth, no matter what it is." He paused, a flicker of suspicion crossing his face. "Still, I can’t shake the feeling that there’s more to this. Why would that asshole Tim even go to such lengths to fabricate lies?"
