Chapter 148: Wanting To Meet
When Jerome Brunton was informed that Jonathan Cooper was seen in Esteria and might be involved in Talia’s kidnapping that year, Jerome spoke in detail about that incident. It was Joanna Cooper who was the daughter of Obediah Cooper who orchestrated the kidnapping and Jonathan Cooper had left Esteria even before the kidnapping and so no one suspected him. No one even knew him as Obediah’s son either since he used an alias while in Esteria.
Apparently Joanna demanded that she wanted her father’s assets to be unfrozen since she is not the one who did wrong. But Jerome was adamantly opposed to that idea since it was against the law. Then she demanded a large amount of money which Jerome agreed to, but then Joanna snapped and threatened to hurt Talia nonetheless and Jerome had to go in the offence. Cyrus successfully rescued Talia.
But why did no one searched for other family members of Obediah Cooper? How did they miss that? If they did, they might have found out about Jonathan, won’t they? But then... They were in witness protection program and so their details must have been protected by A Country?
Could be! Or did someone protect Jonathan?
When Arthur asked Jerome what happened to Joanna afterwards, Jerome just clenched his teeth as he was still angry thinking about that woman. He said that that woman was the reason Talia developed fear for needles and she killed herself in police custody. Arthur could only imagine Joanna died a terrible death and out of curiosity, he checked the police records. Apparently, she bit herself and died! Like that could happen!
"Talia...?"
"She’s safe. In fact, Stacy tried to get her and she was shot to death by -"
"You. Dared. To. Put. Her. Life. In. Danger?" Arthur was relieved Talia is safe, but he knew they must have succeeded by putting her life at risk.
Cyril just chuckled. "We succeeded. Now we got who we wanted."
