Chapter 1265: Why Are You Here Again?
"Go call my attending doctor. I need to discuss with him; taking my temperature ten times a day is a bit too frequent."
Hearing him say he wanted to call the attending doctor, the young nurse’s face stiffened, her expression a bit panicked, she quickly said, "Mr. Saxon, taking your temperature isn’t really supposed to be this frequent. It’s just out of concern for your health that we do it multiple times. If you feel it’s unnecessary, we can change it."
Of course, it wasn’t possible for the doctor to make her take the patient’s temperature ten times a day.
A patient that needs to have their temperature taken ten times a day wouldn’t be in Matthew Saxon’s condition.
She was acting out of personal desire, wanting to see him more often, which is why she kept using taking his temperature as an excuse. So of course, she panicked when Matthew said he wanted to call the doctor.
Matthew Saxon curled his lips, seemingly let out a light laugh. The laughter sounded gentle, but his words were not gentle at all: "Since it’s not necessary to do it many times a day, unless I have some need, there’s no need to come again. Isn’t the nurse afraid of disturbing a patient’s rest with such frequent visits?"
He was never a man with gentlemanly manners, even if he was a gentleman, it depended on the target.
Making women embarrassed was not something he was new to, especially when the young nurse was being tactless. He was even less obliged to be polite.
What he said was already considered tactful.
The impatience and disgust in his tone weren’t hidden at all. The young nurse’s expression immediately turned somewhat unsightly, her previously blushful shy face turned ashen and then white.
With the conversation reaching this point, the young nurse couldn’t feign ignorance any longer. She lowered her head awkwardly, speaking with a voice as soft as a mosquito’s: "I’m sorry, Mr. Saxon, for bothering you. I’ll leave now."
The young nurse didn’t dare to linger around like her colleague Annie.
Annie didn’t know better, which is why she got sacked. She had to learn from that example and must not become the next Annie.
Just five minutes after the nurse left, Matthew Saxon heard the door outside open again.
His brows furrowed, his expression darkened, and his handsome face showed a hint of anger.
That young nurse really didn’t know any better.
He tossed the book in his hand, tightened his lips grimly, and when he heard the footsteps stop outside his bedroom door, he coldly said, "Wasn’t I clear enough earlier? Are the women in this hospital so obsessed, seeing a man and wanting incessantly to latch onto him?"
The door creaked open.
"It’s me."
That voice...
Matthew Saxon was taken aback and quickly looked up.
Scarlett Yates stood awkwardly at the door, holding a basket of fruit and a bouquet of flowers.
After a moment of silence, he suppressed the brief joy that flashed within him, furrowed his brows, and feigned a look of disdain: "Why are you here again?"
"Why can’t I come?"
Hearing his question, the little bit of hope Scarlett Yates had in her heart was dashed again, showing a bit of disappointment on her face, she slowly walked in with her fruit basket and flowers.
His memory hadn’t returned yet.
On her way to the hospital, she still held onto a sliver of hope, imagining that he had already regained his memory. But as soon as he asked that question, she knew that now he was still the same jerk and hateful Matthew Saxon.
The Matthew Saxon who had regained his memory wouldn’t be this annoying.
Seeing her arrive, Matthew Saxon was clearly happy inside, but he didn’t want her to see through his thoughts. So, he deliberately put on a disdainful look, showing an expression to her as he wished.
