Chapter 246: Layla is a sweetheart
"Who is it?" Layla asked, noticing the deep furrow in Lucius’s brow.
"Sylvia," Lucius replied, his voice tinged with surprise.
"I thought she was upset with you," Layla pointed out, her gaze narrowing. "I didn’t expect her to be texting you."
Lucius exhaled slowly with an uncertain expression on his face. "I thought the same," he murmured, clearly unsettled by the unexpected message.
Layla’s tone softened with concern. "You should check in on her, see if she’s okay," she suggested. "She’s your friend’s sister after all."
"Sylvia should not have texted me because that’s what she told Roger. Not to follow her in the states. I feel something else is there," Lucius said.
"Do you mean someone is threatening her?" Layla arched her eyebrows.
"Kind of. But I’m not sure yet," Lucius replied. "I need to check first," he asserted.
"You don’t trust Sylvia, do you?" Layla mused. "The Lucius I know is someone who will not even wait for a second to save his precious people and here he is taking time. I believe you are tricked by Sylvia a lot of times," she proclaimed.
