Chapter 262: Amelia
Two days later...
It had been two days since Eleanor occupied Leonard’s room and treated it as her personal room.
In fact, rumors began to spread that Eleanor seemed like she was at home and not as a guest.
"Is Princess Eleanor the new lady of the palace?" A servant gossiped within their own dorms.
"Who knows?" Another servant shrugged.
"Better to just keep a blind eye and a deaf ear to avoid any trouble."
The dorms were considered their safe haven, so they gossiped among themselves. Of course, some content was still highly prohibited, and none would dare to risk their life breaking it.
These servants still remembered how Bea ended up vanishing alongside her family.
Although there were a few absent servants on that day, those who were present still recalled the commotion.
No details were revealed, but even a fool knew Bea had definitely messed up terribly. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have disappeared. Despite claiming disappearance, they all knew she had been silenced, aka killed.
25 years of service, yet received the worst judgment, which goes to show she did the taboo.
Unbeknownst to them, one of the servants in the room was secretly listening to their gossip, their eyes filled with a dread of coldness. Their fists clenched tightly when they found the others talking about Bea’s fate.
’I was gone for a mission and came back with Sister Bea’s death.’
"Guys, we should keep it down. Amelia is here." One of the servants suddenly said when they spotted Amelia from the corner.
Amelia was a special individual within the dorm room. Despite being a servant and at the tender age of 17, she was already a second-circle mage.
Due to her capability to become a mage, she was assigned missions that required her to go outside the capital for a period.
However, the most important factor was that her relationship with Bea was akin to that of mother and daughter.
"Is Servant Amelia here?" Amidst their conversation, a guard suddenly approached the dorm room and inquired.
"She’s really been called."
"Uh oh, this isn’t good."
Amelia ignored the servant’s gossip and stood up from the bed.
"I am here." She raised her hand and said calmly.
The guard glanced at her briefly. "Very well, follow me."
Sometime later, Amelia followed the guard through the spacious palace corridor.
’This direction leads to the library...’ As a servant, she naturally recognized the pathway. But it was precisely because she recognized that which made her confused.
To be honest, she expected to be led toward the basement level.
"You can enter inside." The guard paused his steps and gestured for her to enter the library alone.
Amelia didn’t respond to the guard. She extended her hand, touched the doorknob, and turned it.
Soon, she was graced with a different atmosphere vibe.
As she stepped foot inside, she instantly felt a wave of pressure impacting her.
Her legs shook, and she nearly fell to her knees. But through sheer will and grit, she resisted the pressure and refused to yield to unknown factors.
Blood began to trickle down to the floor as she bit her lips tightly to maintain consciousness.
"Hoh, she can endure for so long." A voice suddenly echoed from the shadows.
Amelia’s eyes also slightly shifted, and she realized it was Spencer.
"M-Mr. Seth." She greeted him despite her horrible condition.
"Alright, you should remove the pressure." Seth ignored her and glanced at someone else.
"I was just curious how much further she could endure." Emerged from the same place was Spencer, who glanced at Amelia in amusement.
To think there was someone like her hiding within the servant ranks was unreal.
Since Spencer was only focused on Leonard, the actual management was Seth. Of course, to the public, it was credited to Spencer.
"Ahem, the pressure." Seth cleared his throat softly.
"Right, right!" Spencer waved his hand and hurriedly retracted his aura. With the pressure dispelled, Amelia quickly gasped for air and breathed heavily.
"Apologies for his behavior." Seth approached Amelia. "Now, I’m sure you probably know a thing or two about being called here, so I’ll just make it quick and simple. Bea has been executed for her crimes against the Crown Prince."
Due to the calmness and casualness in the remark, Amelia took a while to process the information.
Although she had accepted that Bea was silenced for something major, she never anticipated that the reason was the biggest taboo of a servant’s life.
No servants should ever dare to plot or harm their Master and expect to live.
"Sister Bea would never harm the Crown Prince." Amelia defended Bea courageously. To defend was equivalent to claiming to be an accomplice.
This was such basic knowledge.
However, Amelia couldn’t accept such a smearing remark toward someone who nurtured her like their own daughter.
Needless to say, her reasoning clearly didn’t align with Spencer, who merely snorted coldly.
"Hmph!" He was about to unleash another wave of attack, until Seth extended his hand to stop him.
"If the Crown Prince was smeared by another prince, how would you feel?" Seth simply asked a rhetorical question to Spencer.
Sure enough, Spencer was rendered speechless. Instead, he crossed his arms and reacted like a child throwing a tantrum.
Seth shook his head at his attitude, but paid no heed to it.
"Miss Amelia, I’m sure you know we wouldn’t punish without concrete evidence." Seth snapped his fingers, and multiple files appeared from nowhere.
Amelia was startled slightly, but understood the intention. She wasted no time browsing through the files. And with each file she browsed, her face turned pale.
"I-Impossible..." She muttered in disbelief. "Bea doesn’t even study medicine, much less understand poison."
Seth nodded in agreement. Although he already knew who was most likely the mastermind behind the incident, what he was curious about was the origin of such poison.
A poison that could avoid detection from multiple formations, to the point where it took Spencer’s level to be highly scrutinized to discover, was a major threat to be wary of.
"The Crown Prince will be headed to the academy soon and will reside in the dorm. He’ll need some servants to take care of him, so will you agree to the task? This can be your chance to redeem the deceased Bea’s reputation." Seth asked softly.
