Chapter 261: Admission Ticket
A few minutes later, Mirelle's eyes widened in complete surprise when she learned about Norman's fate.
To think that a fellow instructor who would soon become her colleague had already been rendered to a status of a slave.
Just how big a mess did they have to mess up?
Norman even had the background of the Mage Association backing them up, but with Spencer included as a factor.
There was indeed not much hope for Norman.
No one in the Mage Association would be willing to help Norman out if they learned it was Spencer who made the move.
Although Spencer was commonly known as the butcherer to the outside world, everyone in the Mage Association had more knowledge of the people falling under his blade.
These people were often the provokers, and not the other way around.
Spencer was clear on his targets. Even though he also targeted those close to these people, the Mage Association wouldn't care much.
Just like Mirelle had mentioned.
Never underestimate ants!
But when these ants had to face an entity that clearly didn't underestimate them, and even had the power to eradicate them all. Then these ants could only close their eyes and accept their fate.
"Am I going to turn into one then?" Mirelle joked. Norman might be weaker than her, but in the face of Spencer, she was no different than an ant as well.
"I'm not addicted to being a slave owner."
Leonard was still more inclined to his modern perspective. Rather than being a slave owner, he would much prefer the term employer.
Although finding his wording somewhat amiss, Mirelle didn't ponder too deeply over the issue.
"Anyway, here's your admission ticket. It's set in 2 days when the academy will open its doors to a new semester." She handed him a badge with two phoenixes in flight as symbols.
The badge was nearly identical to the Valdoria Continent's emblem, which was quite suited for an academy meant to represent the continent.
Leonard accepted the badge and asked, "What else is there? I'm sure you didn't come all the way over here just to deliver the admission ticket."
"She's also accepted into the academy, and in the same class as you."
Although Mirelle didn't specify who this "she" was, her eyesight showed him who it was.
He nodded his head without much reaction.
"You're not surprised?" She raised an eyebrow. She had anticipated him to have some reaction at the very least. After all, Eleanor's age should definitely not be in the first semester.
"What's there to be surprised about?" Leonard shrugged. "If anything, I bet she probably did some sponsoring or offered something the academy couldn't refuse in exchange for that admission and request to be in the same class as me."
"..."
Mirelle was rendered speechless because he was absolutely spot on.
"Yeah, that's precisely what she did." She smiled bitterly and wondered what he would do next.
Contrary to her belief, Leonard simply laughed it off. He might no longer hold much hostility toward Eleanor, but he also knew trying to react to what she does would be futile.
That would just be playing into the chessboard she had set up.
Sorry, but Leonard no longer had the intention of being a pawn who could only move one square forward at a time, minus the starting position, where you could advance two squares.
"She can do whatever she wants. She is she, and I am I." Leonard calmly said and stood up. He took a glance at Eleanor, who most definitely was awake at this moment.
His mana sensitivity seemed to have increased, which allowed him to notice she had been awake for quite some time.
As for why she feigned unconsciousness, Leonard was too lazy to think about it.
"I'll head off to do some studying." He informed Mirelle and exited the room.
Sometime later, Mirelle got up from the floor and asked, "How did you help the Crown Prince with the blockade?"
A moment of silence occurred, and Eleanor's eyes gradually opened. Her face was still somewhat pale, but she retrieved a small vial from her pocket to consume.
Soon, her pale face started to glow some color.
When Mirelle saw the scene, she was stunned on the spot.
'The Restoration Potion??!' Her pupils constricted slightly, unable to fathom where and how Eleanor managed to get her hands on the potion.
"Are you really a citizen of Xundraeth or a citizen of Valdoria?" Eleanor smiled lightly, blatantly ignoring her question.
"Don't ask what you shouldn't ask. I'm sure you're clever enough to come up with a conclusion."
Mirelle swallowed a mouthful of saliva nervously. Although the wording sounded like a warning, it was no different than a confession.
'What a good Caroline… you actually kept this hidden from me.' She cried inwardly and realized this good friend of hers was concealing something this secretively.
"Whatever you're thinking, make sure it's not too overboard." Amidst her deep thought, Eleanor suddenly chuckled.
"She doesn't work for me, but owes me a favor. I happened to be curious about Leon's conduct within Velastra."
"I see…"
Soon, the atmosphere in the room turned quite awkward and tense.
Mirelle could never have imagined the type of predicament she would land herself in when she accepted the guest instructor role.
'If it wasn't for Master, I might actually be silenced or even turned into a slave.' She wasn't exaggerating things.
Never be fooled by the gentle and sweet appearance of Eleanor. The rumors and deeds that she had done alone could send tremors to everyone.
"Alright, I'll still need some time to rest, even though I've consumed the Restoration Potion. If anything, I hope you can keep a tight lip. That shouldn't be too hard for a disciple of Archmage Rosie, right?" Eleanor got up from the bed with ease.
Mirelle was astonished and bewildered by her condition.
'This was someone who needed a wheelchair for mobility?!' She would be damned if she believed anything she saw from Eleanor now.
