Mated to Four Alphas

Chapter 288: Flashback - 28

Meyer’s POV

From childhood, when I saw Orian for the first time, my heart skipped a beat . I am sure it was love at first sight. I vividly remember when I was on the farm with my dad, but His Majesty also came there with Orian and Silas. Even though they were twins, I only found Orian attractive and cute. His smile was so innocent and sweet, it melted my heart. I froze at that moment, just seeing him.

That’s why I mustered the courage and smiled at him. That’s when he came to me with his brother, and they talked and played with me. Even while playing, I used to pay more attention so that he wouldn’t get hurt. He was so delicate—how could I let him get hurt? That’s why I was always on guard to protect him. Then, it didn’t matter—even if I got hurt while saving him.

If he was fine, that’s all that mattered to me. Even though all three of us used to play, Silas was always strong. But Orian—I liked the way he depended on me. When my parents died because of illness, His Majesty helped me a lot, and Orian used to comfort me, even though he was still a kid. After all, I’m three years older than him.

I know my limits very well. There are some things that can’t be yours—just like the moon. You can see it and even give a compliment, but if you extend your hand to try to touch the moon, you’ll realize it’s out of your reach. That’s the same case here. I can only love Orian, but he can never be mine. He is a prince of our pack. It’s impossible for him and me to be together.

Because His Majesty did so much for me, how am I supposed to show my face to him if he finds out I love Orian? But now, when Silas asked and I glanced into Orian’s eyes, I saw the wait—for my reply. That’s why I said what I was feeling. I first thought it was one-sided love, that only I had feelings for him, which didn’t matter—but he also loves me, which makes things different, because Orian is like a god to me. Someone I worship.

His face turned all red hearing me. He was hot too—I knew he was blushing, but I think he had a fever too because his body felt hot. I slightly touched Orian’s hand and he looked at me. When I checked his temperature, he was looking down, but then he looked at me again, and just seeing him made my heart beat faster. And it beats only for him.

"Orian, can we talk somewhere else?" I asked, because of course, we usually don’t get time to talk alone, like last time. But the main reason was to talk with him—to explain to him that we can’t be together. If I didn’t tell him, and his heart got broken, I don’t want that. I only want Orian happy, at any cost.

"Sure, why not. And Silas, wait for us here," he said. We both stood up as he agreed, and we left after nodding to Silas.

We walked down a street where the shops weren’t luxurious, because farmers aren’t that rich. And if I looked at the difference between us, there were many—like our clothes. His were lavish and luxurious, but mine were three or four years old. That’s why they were even torn, because I’ve been trying to save money. Even if that means I have to wear torn clothes.
