Chapter 1297: Heartless Like a Wolf and Dog
"Just based on her saying that and doing something that shameless, she doesn’t deserve to be a mom!" Just mentioning that woman made Sophie Wilson’s heart twist with pain.
"What did my Mr. Seymour ever do to them? Did he beg them to give birth to him? They had him and couldn’t even give him the bare minimum of a warm family, then dumped all the blame on him! Are you even human?"
Sophie’s words came like a rapid-fire barrage, blasting Henry Chapman so hard he was left speechless. Before he could even organize his thoughts, Sophie’s next wave of attacks was already on him.
"Your Chapman Family’s daughter died and you feel awful, but overnight, his mom was gone and his dad was gone too—do you think he didn’t feel awful? You adults were all drowning in grief; as for him, a little kid just a few years old, what was he feeling? Have you ever tried to understand that?"
"Now you suddenly remember you want to acknowledge this grandson from outside the family? Where were you back then? It was Ethan Seymour who cheated, not my Mr. Seymour. Back then it was your daughter who insisted on marrying Ethan Seymour—what the hell did that have to do with my Mr. Seymour?"
"I really don’t get it, where do you get the gigantic face to think your daughter was killed by my Mr. Seymour? So what, your daughter who was already old enough to get married and have children was actually mentally retarded? Killed by a kid of just a few years old?"
"Shut up!" Old Mr. Chapman roared.
He was just like Henry Chapman—his brain couldn’t keep up with Sophie’s speed. But when someone insulted his daughter, there was no way he could hold back.
"If my daughter hadn’t been trying to give him a complete family, do you think she would’ve died in the Seymour Family’s house?" Old Mr. Chapman demanded, his voice sharp and furious.
"Spare me!" Sophie couldn’t care less about Old Mr. Chapman’s age; people who weren’t worthy of respect, even if they lived as long as a turtle, still didn’t deserve respect. "Clearly your daughter just couldn’t bear to leave Ethan, and because she couldn’t find any other excuse, she shoved my Mr. Seymour out there as her fig leaf."
"You really don’t know what kind of person your own daughter was?" Sophie’s words had Old Mr. Chapman shaking all over with rage. He couldn’t win against Sophie verbally, so he could only turn his spear toward Charles Seymour. "Charles Seymour, you’re just going to let someone insult your mother like that?"
Being called out directly by Old Mr. Chapman finally got a reaction out of Charles. He glanced at him and asked, "Where exactly did Sophie say anything wrong?"
"You..." Old Mr. Chapman barked, then was so angry he actually laughed. "Good! Your mother sacrificed so much for you, and you’re this cold-blooded and heartless. Truly your father Ethan Seymour’s son—no conscience at all!"
Well, well!
Talking about her Mr. Seymour like that—did he think she was dead or something?
"That’s right, Ethan Seymour is scum. What I can’t figure out is, back then why did your daughter insist on marrying such a piece of scum?" Sophie asked Old Mr. Chapman in a tone of mock humility. Seeing he was about to speak, she cut him off with a cold laugh. "Don’t you dare say anything about ’love’ to me!"
"If you say your daughter, all for love, insisted on marrying that scumbag Ethan Seymour no matter what, then let me ask you: as her father, you couldn’t even stop your own daughter. On what basis do you claim your daughter stayed with Ethan Seymour because of my Mr. Seymour and not because of herself?"
"Your daughter was blind—were you blind too? You couldn’t see that Ethan Seymour was scum?" Sophie sneered again and again. "Clearly your whole family just doesn’t want to take responsibility for any of the wrongdoing, so you dump everything onto my Mr. Seymour. That way you can righteously play the side of justice, stand on the moral high ground and condemn Ethan Seymour, condemn my Mr. Seymour!"
