Chapter 14: Bargain
The next morning, Kevin’s alarm rang. He frowned, turning it off directly before preparing to sleep a little longer.
Before he could lie down for another two minutes, Jessie knocked on his door as her voice came through.
"Mr. Harper, are you up? It’s almost eight o’clock, and we agreed to go to the mall together at half past seven."
Hearing her voice, Kevin responded somewhat irritably.
"Coming."
He had completely forgotten about this. Although he didn’t want to, he had to get up no matter what as he thought about his promise yesterday.
He quickly got up and changed his clothes. When he opened the door, he saw Jessie had prepared breakfast and was sitting at the table waiting for him.
As soon as she saw him, she brought a fried egg toast in front of him.
"You went to a party with your boss yesterday, so you probably drank a bit of alcohol. A lighter breakfast in the morning would be better for your stomach."
Jessie’s thoughtfulness made Kevin feel a hint of complicated emotions, but he still nodded and sat down.
The toast was grilled just right, while the fried egg was runny. Kevin had to admit that Jessie really had good cooking skills.
"Oh, you said you want to bring your grandpa and the others over for dinner this weekend, right? Does your family have any taboos? Or is there anything they like to eat? We can buy the ingredients today."
