The Devil's Son and His Fated Bride

Chapter 26: An idea

During dinner, Ren kept her attention on Kai. He was stern and deep in thought while his pack members debated about the vampire king. Neither of them could eat well, and she completely forgot her concerns.

"Who is Luther?" she asked, and the uproar ceased. A deafening silence swept through the air.

Eyes turned to the Alpha King, who seemed furious and out of this world, but to her surprise, he answered her question.

"He is one of my brothers! Your uncle and I made sure to send him back to hell many years ago, doe-eye, but somehow he sneaked out."

Ren strengthened her shoulders and blinked in puzzlement. He had fought alongside her uncle?

"Or someone released him," Beta Coran summed up.

Kai nodded, unable to disagree. Ren felt bad that she couldn’t help him or offer emotional support as he had been doing for her since she first saw him, even though he didn’t know what he was even doing.

Many questions pierced through her mind, but she dared not ask them now. Instead, she searched her memories for one of her studies in the last couple of months. "Sunlight can kill vampires, right?"

"Yes. Do you have something in mind that can help us?" Rail asked excitedly.

Ren hesitated, not fully trusting everyone here. ’We must talk alone! I’m going to the library. Are you coming with me?’

She hoped he heard her, and his smile made her breathe easily.
