Chapter 1489: Did You Call Me Just to Annoy Me?
Over the phone, Charlotte Shaw could feel her mother’s dissatisfaction. She was already feeling wronged by her brother, and hoped to get some comfort from her mom, but instead, her mom added to her frustration.
"You’re just protecting him. Sooner or later, he’ll be so spoiled by you." Not being treated fairly, Charlotte was fuming.
"How is your brother spoiled? Are you calling just to upset me?" Isla Lane didn’t like anyone saying anything negative about her son. Whoever spoke ill of him was viewed as an enemy.
Charlotte rolled her eyes at the car window. If it wasn’t her mother on the other end, she would have hung up long ago.
"How could I upset you? It’s always been Benjamin who upsets you." As soon as Charlotte finished speaking, she heard Isla’s sigh of suppressed anger on the other end, prompting her to quickly add, "Alice is back, and Benjamin he..."
"How do you know Alice is back? Who told you?" Isla Lane was astonished that Charlotte knew Alice Turner was back; she had only just learned about it from Autumn York’s call.
She had told her son the news immediately and hadn’t had the chance to inform her daughter on the line.
Charlotte was even more surprised and shocked than her mother. After hearing her mother’s words, her dissatisfaction and grievances vanished, replaced by astonishment.
"Mom! You knew Alice was back too?!" Her mom knew Alice had returned, but why was her mom still so calm? It didn’t make sense.
"I know, Thomas’s mom just called to tell me. How did you know? Who told you?" From Charlotte’s surprised tone, Isla knew Charlotte also knew about Alice Turner coming back, but the curiosity was how her daughter found out.
Aunt Autumn told mom?!
Why did Aunt Autumn call mom? Could it be that Aunt Autumn doesn’t agree with Thomas and Alice being together?
Didn’t Thomas already successfully propose to Alice? So why was Aunt Autumn still behaving like this?
Hearing that her mom got the news about Alice’s return from Autumn York, a flood of questions surged in Charlotte’s mind, making her frown.
"Mom! What did Aunt Autumn say to you?" She thought Aunt Autumn probably didn’t tell her mom the truth. If she had, her mom would’ve gone to find her brother long ago.
"She just said she saw Alice on the street." Isla replied simply because that was exactly how Autumn York had put it over the phone. She was so caught up in the moment, she hadn’t thought about anything else.
"What’s up? Is there a problem?" Judging by her daughter’s tone, there seemed to be something else she wasn’t aware of.
The problem is huge!
Charlotte really wanted to shout at her mom over the phone but held back the words at the last moment, "Aunt Autumn might not know yet, but Thomas has already proposed to Alice, and she accepted."
She wasn’t entirely sure of everything that happened, she just knew that Thomas and Alice were now engaged, and the Turner Family parents had probably accepted their relationship.
Whether the Fisher Family parents were aware, she wasn’t quite sure.
Anyway, she just knew that the Turner family and the couple themselves could now happily have meals together.
