Chapter 226: The Illegitimate Grandson
"Jax, what are you doing here?" Grandpa Lee asked sternly.
Previously, the patriarch acted coldly toward Jax because he did not like illegitimate children. He only forgave Jaime because the children born to Jaime were all daughters and Jaime was his first born.
When Jax took care of the banking business of the Lee Conglomerate and brought the company to another level, while Gaeya Corporation’s stocks fell after Aryana became missing, his treatment of Jax changed. He started appreciating the illegitimate grandson that he used to despise. He had his name changed to Lee and hence Jax Cuenca became Jax Lee.
"Why, Grandpa? Am I not welcome here?" Jax asked pitifully.
"That’s not what I meant. Why did you come?" The old man’s voice turned gentle.
"I need to discuss an urgent matter with Erik but I cannot find him. I tried calling him but he is not answering."
"Erik is on a business trip in China and he is working on a special project." Grandpa Lee explained. "You can discuss your business dealing with Marlon."
"Grandpa, has something happened to Erik and you are just covering for him?" Jax said as he scanned the old man’s face.
"What are you talking about? What could happen to Erik? He is really working on a project." Grandpa Lee said with conviction. ’Well, watching over his wife and waiting for his baby to be born is indeed a special project.’
