Lust System: Sword Genius in Women's World

Chapter 195 - 195 Why not?

"Are there any humans as powerful as you, all your armies are made up of females and only the generals we met and a handful I saw were above average"

"There are, you just haven't met them yet"

"Really, I don't think you know my entire ability, if these humans are the ones you rely on, then your entire species would go extinct"

"You talk like you're that much stronger, don't forget I defeated you twice" Xavier spoke.

"You have luck to thank for that, what if we face each other in a one-on-one, no weapon, just hand combat?" Star asked.

"Why would I face a dragon without a weapon? Sure, you might win, but if we decide to use our entire arsenal and fight to the death, only one of us would come out alive and it's not going to be you" Xavier uttered.

"Maybe, or maybe none of us would come out alive, I told you, you don't know my entire ability, someone's coming up the stairs, and towards this room" Star spoke.

"I know," Xavier replied as he sat up in bed and turned towards the door.

A tiny knock was heard, and the door was pushed open slightly. Then, a head bobbed out; it was Anna, and she saw that both Xavier and Star were staring at her.

"Anna" Xavier muttered as he stood up and walked towards the door.

She came inside with her head down and Xavier wrapped his hands around her, the moment she did she burst into tears for the second time and wrapped her hands around Xavier.

'Humans' Star mumbled as she stood up and walked towards the window of the room.

"I thought you were gone, I cried in my room every night" Anna muttered, tears still flowing out of her eyes.

"It's alright, I'm back now" Xavier replied as she slowly backed away from him.

"I'm sorry about your father" Anna said, tears still pouring from her eyes.

"It's okay, you should stop crying" Xavier mumbled as he held her face up.

Anna wiped her tears with the back of her hand, but they kept coming. She tried to calm herself down, but Xavier looking into her eyes just made everything come back.

"I really thought you were gone..." she said again, her voice soft.

Xavier gave a small sigh and placed his hand on her head, gently patting her hair. "I'm not that easy to kill, just think of it as me taking a little break, I'm back now"

Anna nodded quickly, even though her eyes were still red. She stepped back a little, looking at him properly now, as if trying to make sure he was really in front of her.

"I know it's not my place to ask, but what happened?" Anna spoke.

"I can't explain everything even if I tried," Xavier replied simply. "Just that things got… complicated."

Anna didn't ask further. She just nodded again, trusting him, at least he was back home, the kingdom was under attack but there was some good news.

Behind them, Star leaned by the window, her arms folded as she stared outside his compound. She didn't interrupt, but her eyes flicked toward them once before going back to the view, a thought coming to her mind.

Anna took a deep breath and tried to compose herself. "You must be tired, you should sleep, a meal is being prepared for you I think"

"I'm waiting"

Anna gave him one last look, then turned and walked out of the room, closing the door gently behind her.

Xavier let out a slow breath and walked back toward the bed, sitting down. His eyes drifted slightly, not really focused on anything.

His mind went back to the academy, he had missed everything he had left behind.

He wondered how much the students had improved while he was gone, he was sure none of them would be anywhere near him, but he was sure a few students would be powerful.

He thought of Mia, Mirabel, and Freya... He also knew the champion of the god of war would have gained an increase same as the rest of them, that is if they were still alive.

"I have a question for you, the army is made up of females, I saw a few males, what made you take this path, if this is your home It's fair to assume your family has resources, you could have just enjoyed life, why all these?" Star asked, and it was a good question.

If Xavier hadn't gotten a mission, what would he be doing, would be join the army even though his family was the head, or even attend the academy? Sure, magic would be interesting to him, but would it be interesting enough for him to leave a good life behind?

His smile faded in an instant as he thought about it, but he knew the answer would still be the same, no matter what changed he would still strive to be better, a human from earth finding out magic and knowing he could at least harness it was enough to get anyone hyped.

Even if he isn't as powerful as he was before, he would still make similar choices that would lead him to the battlefield, and then he finally answered.

"Why not? Just because it isn't the norm doesn't mean I shouldn't do it, and besides life would be boring"

Star glanced at him but didn't say anything.

Time passed slowly in the room.

After a while, a knock came again.

Before Xavier could respond, the door opened slightly and Anna stepped in once more. This time, she looked much better, her face clean, though her eyes were still a little red.

"Food is ready," she said softly.

Xavier stood up from the bed. "Alright, you coming"

"I'll try some" Star replied as she followed.

Anna stepped aside to let him pass, and for a moment, she looked at him again, just to make sure he was still there.

Xavier noticed but didn't say anything as he proceeded downstairs.
