Chapter 304: Quest completed
"Slave Master," Abrielle’s breath slowed; it suddenly got harder to breathe the moist salty air that was heavy in her lungs. The place smelled like wet socks and a rotting corpse.
"Bingo, exactly. You are not as scared as I expected. Not the reaction I needed but it’s fine." The dancer chimed; she slowly got on her knees, and the lantern pointed at Abrielle. The princess wasn’t shaking and the dancer didn’t like this, her eyes narrowed.
She burst into a laugh, one that left Abrielle more confused, but the laugh quickly died off. "I guess we have a brave one again." She sighed dramatically.
"Do you know what happened to the last girl that acted brave?" She asked Abrielle despite knowing the princess had no idea. She went ahead to answer her question.
"It was over a year or longer ago, I can’t remember, but she stood out. She was a noble, but unfortunately, her newly wedded stepmother saw her as an eyesore and sold her. It was a good trade...." The lady continued narrating the story with the obvious intention of scaring Abrielle.
Abrielle’s guts told her this story would be associated with the bones. "She was young and beautiful. There were a lot of potential buyers who wanted something fragile the same way a lot of them wanted a princess, especially one that served Cedric’s bed. I know you get me."
The ship swayed, and Abrielle could hear the water crashing against the wooden frame. "So back to my story, she might have been the perfect goods, but she was stubborn and brave. She believed her papa would find her, defiling commands, but guess what? No one came because they could never find us."
"In an attempt to straighten her up, we starved her. She refused to give in until she died of starvation. A brave girl indeed and a wasted investment. She was lucky because we let her starve; you won’t be that lucky, not after the fortune I spent to buy you..."
It would be a lie if Abrielle claimed she wasn’t scared. Her tone seemed like a psychopath, from the way she spoke it felt like she worked with a strong guide one even more powerful than the shadow guide
