Chapter 111: How Shameless
"Did you guys find nothing outside?" Damien asked without even turning around to look in her direction, he just knew that it was her even without looking to confirm.
Annalise moved inside the room where Damien was searching as she replied, "Yeah, there was nothing helpful in the courtyard. However, I learned something really impressive from Kenric."
"I can tell," Damien said as he continued with his search, and while his back was facing her and his face was hidden from her, she still knew that there was a smile playing on his lips.
She stepped closer to him and came to stand beside him as she asked, "How? And why are you searching these cabinets?" Both questions were far apart from one another but she could help herself.
Damien finally stopped looking through the cabinets before he turned to face her. The smile was still playing on his lips as he moved his hands to rest over her shoulders, pulling her a little closer to him.
"How can I not when we are soulmates and have already completed our bond? Don’t you know just how deeply we are connected now? If you are sad, I’ll be sad. If you will be happy, I’ll be happy. If you will get injured, I will feel the same pain. Your fear will be mine, and so will be your strength."
He took a step closer to her, bringing the two of them even more closer. "If you will lose, I’ll lose, and if you will win, I’ll win too. We are now two bodies but one soul, Annalise."
She realized that she was holding her breath and finally let it out before taking a deep breath to fill her lungs with the much-needed oxygen. "Well... of course, I know all this..."
"Really?" Damien asked as he tilted his head to look at her face.
"We should be searching for clues." She hurriedly spoke and tried to step away from the man who was making her heart race like stupid.
However, Damien was far quicker and stronger than her, just one pull from the man and she was caged into his strong arms as her back hit his chest, and the man wrapped his arms around her. "Not so quick, wife. This place ain’t going anywhere."
Annalise stopped struggling and just relaxed in his arms. "What do you want?" She asked when the man squeezed her and buried his face in her hair. She could tell that he was a little bit on edge for some reason but she didn’t use the bond to search for the reason, instead, she decided to wait for him to reveal it on his own.
