Chapter 451: Titan Hunter
As the others scurried away under the runic protections of Kael, Kael rose fully out of the chasm.
Slabs of concrete, asphalt, and pieces of glass fell from his body as he rose to full height.
He shook his head, spraying the dust and debris away from his fluffy mane.
Blue and golden eyes locked on each other, the space in between the dragon commander and the golden lion twisted.
"Primordial Lion, how did you do it?" The dragon commander asked with a booming voice.
Kael did not answer, his body which had now reached about a hundred meters in height moved. Each paw step took him several hundred meters forward as he charged at the colossal dragon.
Right before the dragon’s eyes, Kael changed. The golden lion kept growing bigger and bigger.
His speed was increasing steadily, not matching his size at all. The golden metallic claws at the end of his paw digits grew longer and more jagged.
His mane, which was originally just thick dark gold fur, grew harder and tougher, looking more like spikes than actual mane hair.
Four golden metallic fangs stuck out of his upper jaw, promising the ability to pierce t
the hard dragon scales.
"Tier 5? Or tier 6?" The War Dragon asked himself, seeing Kael still running toward him.
He couldn’t immediately tell from Kael’s aura if the latter was a tier 5 or tier 6, the power level seemed to be fluctuating a lot.
The War Dragon then shook his head and let out a boisterous laugh, "This is the Primordial Lion, foolish of me to think I can understand him easily.
I can’t even understand my own empress!"
Kael was already upon the dragon, leaping into the air with outstretched paws and an open maw filled with sharp teeth.
The War Dragon was surprisingly still with that confident smirk on his scaled face. He didn’t understand Kael, but that didn’t mean he would fear him.
*WHOOSH! BAM!*
The dragon tail came out of nowhere like the whip of a war goddess, swiping down on Kael’s back while he was mid-air.
The tail was long, thick, and very powerful. Kael was smashed into the ground right before he could touch the dragon commander.
The crater that was formed was the size of one-third of the city, and the shockwave spread far and wide, as if there was not yet enough destruction.
"Hahahaha, Primordial Lion, listen. You may have been superior among your kind but you overestimate yourself too much.
Don’t you know? You lie before a great dragon?"
The War Dragon chuckled. His slit pupils showed a mixture of arrogance and fury. He hadn’t forgotten about that rocket.
His work would be so much easier if his arkship were still working.
Still, Kael refused to engage this dragon in any conversation. Even as the dragon’s tail wrapped around his neck, he resisted in silence, rising from the crater.
The War Dragon frowned, he found that Kael’s strength was still rising at an alarming rate.
The golden lion was still getting bigger, and his fur was getting thicker and more spiky.
"What’s this?" The War Dragon asked, raising one of his scaled paws to slap Kael.
Kael, still held in place by the tail, didn’t dodge the slap. His ears rang and his eyeballs rolled in his eye sockets.
"What was that rocket? Do you think I’m playing with you?" The War Dragon asked and delivered another backhand slap.
This time, the dragon noticed that there was a lot more resistance, as Kael’s neck muscles had gotten stiffer.
The animalistic snarl coming from Kael’s mouth was starting to worry the colossal dragon.
At some point, Kael had grown to enormous proportions too. The War Dragon had not noticed it since Kael was being pressed against the ground with his tail.
But now, Kael stood up from the ground, supported by his powerful limbs that were like golden heavenly pillars. The reptilian tail could no longer hold him down.
He was now big enough to look the War Dragon directly in the eye.
Seeing that Kael was resisting, the war dragon raised his scaled paws for another slap. The muscles on his limbs bulged and his wings unfolded a little.
He was going all out and not settling for a casual attack.
His movements were actually very fast, the simple act of raising his claws caused cyclones and terrifying gusts of wind to blow forth.
Seeing the disrespectful slap about to land on his face again, Kael also didn’t hold back.
The Hunter State was fully active and would help him adapt. He lurched forward, his hind limbs shattering the ground as he burst with speed toward the dragon commander.
The War Dragon was a bit surprised at the speed Kael came at him with and hurriedly delivered the slap. Unfortunately for him, Kael caught the attack on his wide-open maw and clamped shut.
The dragon cried out in pain, feeling Kael’s fangs which seemed to be designed to pierce his scales, dig into his flesh.
The two titans tussled and tumbled, rolling for hundreds of kilometers in a few seconds.
Everywhere they went, destruction was certain. Trees were crushed, hills were crushed, and the land was crushed.
The swipe of a tail or a paw would level the ground and blast rocks thousands 9f kilometers away.
This was a battle between two beings equivalent to tier 6.
The War Dragon Commander was filled with years of combat experience when fighting different creatures. Handling a lion was not meant to be an issue.
But Kael was not just a Primordial Lion at this moment. He was a Primordial Lion using the powers of a Primordial Wolf.
Kael wasn’t using any of his original lion powers. No golden lightning, no Conquering Essence-infused flames, no magic, no spirit powers.
All his other powers had been temporarily let go to support his lionesses.
The only thing he used was his newfound power of the hunters, adapting on the spot to his chosen prey.
So, even without years of battle experience, he was still able to go toe to toe with this tier 6 dragon.
By the time the first piece of flesh was ripped off, ten cities had been destroyed.
The dragon was the first to lose a couple of hundred pounds of flesh. Kael had bitten into his shoulder and torn out some flesh along with the scales.
This fight was not going the way the dragon commander had envisioned.
He had imagined that the enemy, or the Primordial Lion in this case, had used that rocket as a final card.
He had never seen such technology that could shut down all powers with such effectiveness. The closest thing he had seen to this was a limit seal.
Now, riddled with wounds and near-fatal injuries, the dragon commander decided to rely on his trump card.
"Just wait until Ibadon arrives..." The dragon commander shouted, activating the heavenly beacon within him.
"Good!" Kael went into a frenzy, acting as if he had been waiting for this moment.
It was said that taking away the heavenly beacon of any being guaranteed certain death. This was partially true.
But it was easier said than done. Any creature capable of holding on to a heavenly beacon, dragon or lion, was not weak.
If Kael had wanted to kill this dragon and also prevent him from summoning Ibadon, he would have to wait for that exact moment...
The laws of heaven and the universe converged around the war dragon as he tried to get away from Kael.
A heavenly gate was about to form.
/////
The black stripped yellow dragon walked on the surface of the moon. The silver-white dust clung to the base of his black claws.
Unlike his colleague, this fortune dragon was not going to wait around, he had already started the process of opening a heavenly gate.
He wasn’t a master combatant, at best he was a lucky strategist. He didn’t know how to take chances.
He would rather open the heavenly gate to call for help now. Who knows when the effects of that anti-power wave would finally be gone?
As he walked, his green reptilian eyes darted from left to right, observing that something was about to tamper with his fate.
He moved his body to the left.
*BAM!*
Diane smashed knee-first into the moon’s surface, forming a deep crater where the fortune dragon had been.
The fortune dragon narrowed his eyes, looking at this newcomer with extreme caution. He had not detected her presence until the last moment.
The fortune dragon continued stepping back...
*BAM! BAM! BAM! BAM!...*
Multiple figures dropped down with vicious force and overflowing killing intent, shattering the moon rocks and creating wider moon craters.
Diane, Eidel, Ruda, Zabita, Chloe, and Katari.
The fortune dragon looked at the colorful bunch and at the craters they had formed. Each of those attacks could have killed him if he had been hit directly.
He was lucky to have dodged all of them at the right time.
The golden glow of Conquering Essence fued with the light coming from the sun.
Just being in the presence of these lioness humanoids caused the fortune dragon to feel extremely uncomfortable.
Out of all of them, it was Katari that made him feel most disturbed
