"How much people like you need money!" When Nora did not react so far, Amayra became more unbridled. She did not hide her disdain for Nora.
But Nora’s expression did not change. As if a naive girl like her could not understand its meaning.
She slowly took the check from Amayra.
"Fifty thousand dollars." her voice had a hint of shock. Amayra’s lips curled into a ridiculing smirk. She nodded arrogantly as she leaned further on the sofa, her lips folding on one another. It was much easier than she had thought.
"Of course, you deserve it. You have been injured badly because of us, we do not want to mistreat you or look miser. After all.."
"And you said that it was Mr Alric’s idea?" Amayra frowned and glared at the girl when she cut her in midway. But thinking that she would come to resent Alric too, Amayra nodded softly.
"Yes, he.." but Nora cut her again. She stood up swiftly and placed the cheque in her pocket. Then she leaned on the table and picked up the wad of cash too, surprising Amyra.
Amayra blinked only when the girl had placed the wad of her cash in her bag and packed a few more things over it as if she was trying to hide the money.
"You.." Amyra was in disbelief. She was only insulting Nora. She was sure that Nora was a proud girl and would not receive the money. Her ambitions were high. She wanted to seduce either Alric or Alex. How could she settle with some cash?
