The digits hovered at the corner of Olivia’s vision, glowing a dull red like a countdown to doom. Her eyes fixated on it, mind numb as the lecture buzzed in the background.
"...and that is why energy runes cannot be layered over unstable fields—Miss Olivia, care to repeat what I just said?" the instructor’s Vaelis voice rang sharply.
Olivia blinked. Her hand, still holding her pen, hadn’t moved in minutes.
"No, Instructor," she said flatly.
A few snickers echoed across the classroom.
The instructor clicked his tongue and moved on, but Olivia barely noticed. Her thoughts spun in relentless loops. Forty-seven hours. That’s all she had left to figure out Alexa’s connection to the school.
She had no idea how she was going to go around it. ’How can I get information about her?’
She exhaled deeply and rubbed her temples.

That name alone made something tighten in her chest. The prodigy flame wielder. Cold, unreachable, terrifying in her strength.
