Chapter 263: The Escape
A month passed after the passing of Agnes Roberts. The estate lawyer read the will. Rory got almost everything her grandmother owned.
Rory was a bit surprised but Liam was not.
Mrs. Delport received five million dollars from Agnes. Mrs. Delport was surprised. She didn’t think that she deserved that much and got overwhelmed.
Rory was not that surprised about that. She would have been surprised if Mrs. Delport was left out of her will.
Rory talked to Mrs. Delport. She was finding it hard to even think about living without Agnes Roberts. She had dedicated her life to serving Agnes Roberts; she seemed to have lost it all after Agnes’ death.
And while talking to Mrs. Delport, Rory understood that Mrs. Delport does not want to leave the house. She mentioned the generously large sum of money left by Agnes. And she hadn’t spent the salary she was paid for the years she stayed in the Roberts household. She felt like she has a lot more than she needs.
She could get a pretty decent house in any place she wants and have savings for a pretty decent rest of her life. What she lacked was not money.
Rory asked if Mrs. Delport is willing to come with her to their new home. They do have a castle that can house many. But Mrs. Delport was not keen on leaving the country. She didn’t want to start her life elsewhere.
Rory understood what she wanted.
Rory asked Mrs. Delport to stay in this home for as long as she pleases. Mrs. Delport looked at Rory as if Rory just saved her life.
"I didn’t even realize this is what I wanted to hear. I would have asked you if I knew what I wanted," Mrs. Delport hugged Rory with tears in her eyes.
"It’s fine. I’m glad we talked through this," Rory patted her back.
