Chapter 262: Way of the World
The nurse went in and did some first aid. A commotion ensued. The emergency number was called. But the ETA was ten minutes.
Rory took a peek inside her grandmother’s bedroom. Mrs. Delport was standing by the bed with her hands covering her mouth. The nurse was still doing CPR.
Her grandmother was lying motionless. And there was no pulse.
Rory knew. Her grandmother called her grandfather’s name. Was she seeing him by the window? Probably.
She has heard of people seeing their dead loved ones just before they die. Did that happen with her grandmother too?
Leaning on Liam’s chest, she started sobbing. The paramedics arrived. They tried their best too. And then they did it.
They pronounced the time of death.
Ellie didn’t understand why her mother was crying and she started to cry too. Liam had eyes filled with tears. Hearing the siren of the ambulance, Frank came to their house.
That’s it. That was the end of the life of a woman who accomplished many things and changed the lives of many. Agnes Roberts, wife of Archibald Roberts and a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother had died after living her life fully.
Rory stopped crying after some time. She knew this was coming. And probably this was for the best. Her sufferings have ended, and she can rest in peace.
And she was very glad she was there at her grandmother’s final moments.
She first consoled her crying daughter. Liam couldn’t handle her. Although she was little, she could feel the sadness around and she didn’t stop crying. Only after Rory talked to her with a smile, did Ellie stop crying.
