Chapter 324: Protecting Her
A couple weeks passed as Xing and Chenglei separated and in a place where all there was darkness around, a woman was held against her will by some local thugs. The musty smell of the dark warehouse she was held gave her sneezes. Her hands were tied behind her back and her legs were tied too. They thought it would be a better idea to tie her eyes so she won’t figure out where she is. She was held with her pouch filled with gold as she wandered in the wrong part of the forest which is the hiding place of these thugs.
"Hey lady! How much would we get as ransom for you?", one of the thugs in the gang that held her asked playing with her artistically embroidered pouch.
"As much as you want.. Please let me go...",the meek voice of the Woman they held made them snigger. She was curled up to a ball with her back plastered to the wall and her face was buried in her knees. She really looked like she was scared of them and if those thugs had a heart, the wrinkled purple silk robes she was wearing and her crunched position would make their heart melt.
"When is our boss coming? He wanted to take a look at her... Judging by her looks... I bet he won’t let her go... She’ll fetch a lot in the market..."
The men started to appraise her and the woman supposedly held against her will, rolled her eyes at the thugs as she knew who has trapped who.
Chenglei who was supposed to return to the capital city couldn’t as he felt the need to confront that woman who lied to him and cheated.
How dare she? As a married woman,she tried to seduce me and even kissed me. I’m not letting her go! I will definitely bring her back to the capital city and hold her forever in my Manor!
Chenglei didn’t understand why every fibre of him wanted to posses her and the urge he had to chase her but he had no time to ponder over it.
With his heart filled with determination, Chenglei followed the trail of the multitude of carriages left. He wondered how with all the wealth she is showing off, she hasn’t been attacked yet. Little did he know she is constantly protected by the shadow guards of the Heavenly Flowers Palace as asked of the crown prince of the Fox Clan by the patron god of their kingdom.
Chenglei learnt that the carriages have entered the Wind Kingdom along the borders of Eastern Province. But he still wasn’t convinced that woman is actually in the carriage. And just as he predicted there were reports that a gang from the earth kingdom who used to be the middlemen who sold drugs and poisons and whose leader were one of the many who had contact with Shihong was nearby.
