Chapter 323: Stay With Me
Chenglei looked parched and pale and Xing felt bad for pushing him too much.
Chenglei looked at the woman in front of him with the rims of her eyes red like she just cried.Oddly he didn’t remember what he saw in the flashes of memory a moment ago. It skipped his mind like the dream you knew you had but won’t remember when you wake up what that dream was about. But, He remembered this woman’s cry was filled with despair just now when she called for him.
He got the cup from her hands and drank the water and he did feel a bit better but still his entire body was hurting and he felt cold.
Xing looked at Chenglei and he still looked as if he is in suffering. Then she remembered he gets fever when he is tired.
So Xing who was keen on showing herself to him as a cultured woman, lost her facade and let him see her worry for him and placed the back of her hand in his forehead to check for his temperature.
Chenglei on the other hand was dumbfounded by her sudden action.
When was the last time someone touched my face, he wondered. The memory of his mother pushing him away closing his eyes with her hand came to his mind. He never liked anyone touching him and he’d break their hand if they tried to.
So why do I have no reaction when this woman touches me? I even like it!
"You have fever, Lord Li", Xing was flustered seeing him sick. "Let me go find some medicines for you", she turned to leave when she felt a firm grip in her wrist. She turned to see Chenglei gripping her wrist hard.
"Stay with me!", he spoke as a command and if it was anyone else they’d have faced her wrath for holding her wrists but Chenglei is always an exception for her!
"Come on, don’t act like this... Let me get you medicines. Drink it and go to sleep and you’ll be fine", she spoke in a slightly coaxing tone and turned to leave but all she felt was a tug in her wrist.
Not only did he not release her but also he pulled her close to him. Xing not expecting that almost lost her balance and with her other hand gripping on the table she avoided landing on her lap.
