Pregnant During An Apocalypse [BL]

Chapter 339 - Black hair

The little girl’s body jerked once beneath the blade, but Yunfeng didn’t immediately pull it out. Something still felt wrong. The strange pressure around her hadn’t disappeared, and the moment he tried to summon even the smallest spark of electricity, nothing happened.

His expression slowly changed.

The nullifying ability was still active.

His power hadn’t returned.

Neither had his enhanced speed.

He looked down at himself, then caught a strand of his hair between his fingers. The white hair that normally appeared whenever he used his powers was completely black now, hanging against his face in a way that made him look strangely different.

Zei, who had finally recovered enough to move properly, noticed it as well.

"Yunfeng..."

"Hm?"

"Your hair."

Yunfeng glanced at him.

"It’s still black."

Yunfeng reached up and slowly ran his fingers through his hair. He sighed heavily, already imagining the reaction waiting for him when he returned.

"I don’t even want to think about what Muchen is going to say."

Jai, who was still struggling to keep the remaining zombies away, looked over.

"He’s going to kill you."

Yunfeng gave him a tired look.

"Thanks for the encouragement."

"No, seriously. You managed to get yourself into a situation where your powers disappeared and you almost got bitten by a zombie child."

Zei nodded solemnly. "When you put it that way, I also think you’re going to die."

Yunfeng sighed again and looked at his hair. "Muchen is going to hate me."

"Probably," Jai agreed.

"Both of you are terrible friends."

"We’re honest friends," Zei corrected.

Before Yunfeng could answer, another group of zombies rushed toward them.

Jai immediately turned around and slammed his hand against the ground.

The earth shook violently.

The zombies were swallowed beneath the soil in a wide section of the street, disappearing almost instantly. Jai tried to push his power farther, forcing the earth to close over the remaining undead, but his movements became slower.

Blood continued dripping from his nose.

"Jai!"

"I’ve got it," Jai muttered.

He didn’t.

His knees suddenly buckled.

The moment the last group of zombies disappeared beneath the ground, Jai’s body swayed and he collapsed completely.

Yunfeng rushed toward him and caught him before his head could hit the pavement. "Jai!"

Jai groaned weakly, his face pale as blood continued to run from his nose. "I... I’m fine."

"You’re bleeding everywhere!"

"It’s only my nose."

"That’s not what I meant!"

Zei fired several shots over Yunfeng’s shoulder, taking down the last few zombies that had managed to remain standing.

"Can you two argue later?" Zei shouted. "I’m trying to finish this before another ten thousand show up!"

Yunfeng glanced toward the street.

Thankfully, there were no more large groups approaching them.

Zei fired again, and the final zombie dropped.

The compound finally became quiet.

For several moments, none of them moved.

The streets were covered with bodies, broken pieces of furniture, abandoned weapons, and blood. The neat villas that had once been home to dozens of families now looked like the remains of a disaster.

Even after defeating the enormous horde, Yunfeng couldn’t relax.

There was still something bothering him.

The little girl had been different.

Her ability had completely nullified his powers, and even after her death, the effect hadn’t disappeared immediately. There was no way for them to know how long it would last.

And if one zombie like that existed, there was no guarantee that she had been the only dangerous one hiding inside the compound.

"We need to be careful," Yunfeng said, looking around. "There could still be some of the stronger ones hiding somewhere."

Zei nodded. "Yeah. After today, I’m not trusting a single quiet street again."

Jai was still unconscious against Yunfeng’s shoulder.

Zei looked at him.

"Is he breathing?"

"Yes."

"Good."

Yunfeng carefully carried Jai toward the entrance.

It took them nearly an hour to clear the streets enough for the others to enter safely. Even then, they didn’t dare claim the compound was completely secure. There could still be zombies hiding inside houses, underground spaces, or behind the walls, especially ones that behaved differently from the ordinary infected.

Yunfeng finally reached the main entrance and pushed the door open.

"It’s clear enough for now," he called outside.

The vehicles immediately began moving.

The moment the first car entered the compound, the others followed behind it. One after another, the familiar vehicles rolled into the base that had once been their home.

People quickly got out and began helping with the cleanup.

Weapons were collected.

Bodies were dragged away from the roads.

Broken vehicles were moved aside.

The streets that had been covered in blood and corpses slowly began to look less like a battlefield.

Muchen was among the first to step out of the car. He had been searching for Yunfeng the moment everyone came back into the base.

And when he finally spotted Yunfeng walking toward them, his eyes immediately landed on his hair.

He stopped dead.

His expression changed.

Yunfeng’s hair was black.

The usual bright white shimmer was gone, and there was not even a trace of blue light in his eyes. Muchen stared at him for several seconds as if his brain was refusing to accept what he was seeing. Then his face darkened.

"Yunfeng."

Yunfeng’s steps slowed.

Zei, who was walking a short distance behind him, immediately looked away. Jai was still being helped along because of his earlier collapse, but even he seemed to understand that this was not a good time to get involved.

Muchen marched toward Yunfeng. "What happened to your hair?"

Yunfeng instinctively reached up and touched it. "It’s nothing."

"Nothing? I’ll show you nothing! Fucking get over here!"

But Yunfeng knew better not to stop. He took off running. "I’m sorry darling I have black hair now... I didn’t realise you loved my white hair this much."

"What the fuck happened to you! Tell me right now! Stop Yunfeng!" he waddled after him.

Yunfeng slowed down slight with a grin. "Will you hit me if I do?"

"I’ll fucking hit you if I want!"

"Then I won’t~"
