Chapter 190: The kidnapping
Henry froze in his place, his hands trembling on the steering wheel. His mind raced, paralyzed by the sudden turn of events. For a moment, he couldn’t even process what had just happened. He forgot to drive away, not even daring to breathe.
A sharp knock on the window jolted him out of his stunned state. His head snapped toward the sound, only to find a gun barrel aimed directly at him. One of the masked men leaned in and shouted, "Open the door and come out."
Fear clamped down on Henry like a vice. His hands trembled uncontrollably as he fumbled with the door handle. His mind screamed to run, but his body refused to obey. Slowly, he stepped out of the car, his legs weak beneath him.
"Who are you? What do you want?" he stammered.
"Move," the man growled, shoving him toward the waiting Range Rover with a force that nearly sent him stumbling.
"You’ve got the wrong person," Henry explained. "Please let me go. I need to get to the hospital—it’s urgent!"
The second man spat back, "We know exactly who you are, Dr. Henry. And today, you aren’t going to the hospital." He pushed him inside the car and hopped in beside him, closing the door with a resounding thud.
Before Henry could react, rough hands grabbed his wrists, pulling them tightly behind his back and tying them with a coarse rope. A blindfold was tied over his eyes, plunging him into darkness.
The car roared to life, lurching forward. Henry’s breathing grew erratic, his thoughts churned in panic. He was trapped, blind, and helpless, carried away into an unknown fate.
At the hospital...
The atmosphere grew heavy with anxiety as Ava sat on the edge of her chair, her fingers intertwining nervously. Her gaze repeatedly darted to the entrance of the lobby with the hope of seeing Henry coming. But she didn’t see the familiar face walking forward. Her heart sank a little more with every passing minute.
