My Ex-Husband Begged Me to Take Him Back

Chapter 191: The lucrative offer

Dr. Fisher sat frozen for a moment, his wide eyes fixed on Lydia as her words echoed in his ears.

Lydia took a deep breath, regaining her composure. "Look, Mathew. We’ve known each other for years. We were good friends once. All I’m asking is for you to help me get justice. My brother’s murder cannot go unpunished."

Mathew shifted uneasily in his chair, his hesitation growing.

Lydia seized the moment, pressing forward with desperation. "Your daughter’s wedding is next month, isn’t it? Imagine what you could do with the money. An extravagant gift, a luxury house, or even a grand destination wedding. Whatever you want—just name your price. I promise you I’ll fulfill all your demands. Just do this for me. I swear I’ll back you up. No one will find out about it."

Mathew was still silent, his mind visibly wrestling with the morality of her request.

"And if that’s not enough," she added, "I can help you relocate. Imagine starting fresh abroad. Think about it."

Mathew finally gave in to her tempting offer. "Alright, I’m ion. I want fifty million and a villa in Hawaii. I want out of this city as soon as it’s done."

Lydia’s jaw tightened imperceptibly, her insides churning with suppressed fury at his audacious demand. ’What a greedy fool,’ she thought bitterly, but her expression remained composed.

"Done," she said with a chilling finality. "Complete the job, and you’ll get everything you asked for."

Dr. Fisher’s face relaxed, a hint of satisfaction flickering in his eyes. The patient’s condition was already critical, and the chances of his survival were almost nil. No one would suspect him even if Thomas died during surgery.

"Okay, I’ll go and finish the job." With that, he walked briskly out of the chamber.
