Chapter 189: The danger
"Henry?" Dylan repeated the name, a faint smile tugging at his lips. It was like a light had clicked on in his mind. ’Why didn’t I think about him sooner?’ he thought.
A surge of relief washed over him. Henry was not only renowned but someone Dylan trusted fully.
"But..." The doctor trailed off, despair crossing his face.
"What is it?" Dylan asked urgently, his smile disappearing.
The doctor looked troubled. "We’ve already contacted him. He declined. Dr. Henry is leaving the city tomorrow, and he said he can’t take on any more cases before his departure."
"That’s not an issue," Dylan said with firm resolve. "I’ll talk to Henry myself. He won’t turn me down. Just make the preparations for the surgery."
Before the doctor could respond, Ava’s panicked voice broke through the tension. "Dylan! What’s going on?"
Dylan turned to find her hurrying toward him, her wide eyes filled with worry. Her gaze darted briefly to the doctor before settling on him. "Why were you shouting at him?"
"I wasn’t shouting," Dylan explained in a reassuring tone. "Your father is in good hands. Henry is here in town, and he is the best surgeon for this. I’ll call him right away and make sure he comes."
Ava’s features relaxed, her shoulders easing as she nodded. The faintest smile touched her lips. ’Henry...’ she whispered in her mind, a glimmer of hope breaking through her fear. ’If anyone can help Papa, it’s him.’
Dylan gave her hand a light squeeze. "He’ll be alright. Trust me." He led her back to the waiting area. "Sit here and try to relax." He motioned for her to take a seat. "I’ll call Henry."
