My Ex-Husband Begged Me to Take Him Back

Chapter 188: Heart attack

"Papa!" Ava exclaimed in fear and shock, dashing over to him. She dropped to her knees beside her father. Tears streamed down her cheeks as she gently shook him. "Please, open your eyes. Say something!"

Dylan rushed out of the bedroom, his heart lurching at the sight before him. He grabbed his phone and dialed for an ambulance without wasting a second. "We need medical assistance immediately," he barked into the phone.

He knelt beside Ava, placing a steadying arm around her shoulders. "Ava, calm down. The ambulance is on its way. He’ll be okay."

The ambulance arrived quickly, and Thomas was rushed to the hospital. There was a rush in the operating room, and it only added to Ava’s spiraling fear. Doctors and nurses moved with purpose, their faces tense with focus.

Ava stood just outside the doors, her tears falling relentlessly. Fear and restlessness gripped her heart. She thought she would lose her father just like in her past life. This mere thought rattled her to the core, and she started sobbing loudly, sinking into a nearby chair.

Dylan, having just finished speaking with a nurse, spotted her crumbling in the waiting area. His chest tightened at the sight of her despair. He crossed the room and sank into the chair beside her.

"It’s going to be okay," he said softly, pulling her into his arms. She collapsed against him, her sobs muffled against his chest.

"I can’t lose him," she choked out between sobs. "He is all I have left."

Dylan held her tighter, his hand gently stroking her hair. He could understand the pain of losing his parents. His heart ached at the intensity of her agony. "Nothing will happen to him. I’ll do everything in my power to make sure he is okay. You’re not alone in this."
