Chapter 179: Do you want me to complain?
Henry entered the emergency room with hurried steps, his heart heavy with guilt and worry. His eyes fell on Lilianna lying on the bed, pale and fragile, an IV drip connected to her arm. The sight made his chest tighten.
Turning to the nurse stationed nearby, he asked urgently, "What happened to her?"
"Her BP dropped, and she fainted. She is stable now."
Henry nodded slowly, a pang of guilt cutting through him like a knife. He had been so caught up in his work that he hadn’t noticed her condition. "Arrange a private room for her," he instructed.
"Of course, doctor. It’ll just take a moment," the nurse replied before stepping out of the room.
Henry moved closer to Lilianna’s bed. He reached out and gently clasped her hand in his, his thumb grazing over her knuckles.
"I’m sorry," he whispered, and his heart sank further. Pressing a tender kiss to the back of her hand, he added softly, "I promise I won’t let you down again."
Once Lilianna was transferred to a private ward, Henry settled into a chair beside her bed, refusing to leave her side. His gaze lingered on her face, his emotions swirling in a mix of love, guilt, and fear. He brushed a strand of hair from her face and gently caressed her forehead.
Lilianna had always been his anchor, standing by him silently through his long nights at the hospital and his early morning departures. She had never complained, not even when his dedication to his career pulled him away from her time and time again. Instead, she always smiled, wished him luck, and encouraged him to chase his dreams.
