Chapter 799 - 799: Into the wilderness
Beast Taming Association
Twenty minutes later, the car reached its destination. When the vehicle came to a halt, Jeremy stepped outside.
The driver was an employee of the organization, so he didn't have to pay. Jeremy told him to wait, as the driver still needed to drop him at the main gate later.
He saw the entrance and walked up to the door. Then, he entered and went to the mission hall.
When he reached the place, he saw that Beast Tamers were still standing in line. It showed that everyone was back to doing business.
They couldn't sit at home with an empty stomach; only by hunting the corrupted beasts could the Beast Tamers earn money.
Jeremy stood in one of the lines. While standing there, he began to listen to the conversations of the other Beast Tamers.
It didn't take long for him to learn some shocking news.
"The Human Settlements around the city were safe. They remained unscathed during the Tier-9 Beast Attack," Jeremy muttered to himself.
He was happy because the people in the Human Settlements were weak. They couldn't even protect themselves against lower-tier corrupted beasts. A relaxed smile appeared on his face.
One by one, the Beast Tamers left after selecting their missions. It didn't take long for his turn to come. He stepped forward and began to browse the missions on the screen.
His eyes scanned the tasks. His goal was to find an easy mission first; he didn't want to go too deep.
Soon, his eyes caught a mission.
[Mission: Find 10 corpses of boar beasts. Tier doesn't matter]
This mission was an easy one, but he was hesitant. He didn't know whether there was a catch behind it. After pausing for a few seconds, he selected the mission. The staff behind the desk saw this but was not surprised.
Such low-level missions had appeared because the Beast Taming Association wanted the Beast Tamers to resume their work. If they don't, it might take a long time for people to return to their jobs.
The staff completed the registration for him. There was no time limit for the mission, and the reward was a few thousand credit points.
Jeremy confirmed the details before leaving the place. He didn't find anything amiss with the mission because he had watched the staff's expression, which seemed alright.
He then returned to the driver, who was waiting for him.
"I have selected a mission. Take me to the city gate," he said to the driver.
The driver agreed. Jeremy entered the car and sat in the back seat.
Swoosh!
The car departed from the area a few minutes later. Jeremy watched the scenes through the window.
There was a reason why he wanted to go to the wilderness: he wanted to resume mission work and accumulate experience. He felt the time for his next breakthrough was near.
Soon, the car reached the main gate and came to a halt. The driver parked the car in an empty area.
Jeremy walked outside and thanked the driver before going towards the gate. He saw one or two other Beast Tamers heading into the wilderness as well.
He stood behind the other Beast Tamers. When his turn came, he showed his badge.
The guard looked at the badge, and after confirmation, let him enter the wilderness. Jeremy nodded to him and stepped through.
He saw the other Beast Tamers going in different directions. Seeing that, he too picked a direction and went deeper.
He reached the previous frontline and saw that the remains had all been collected, but the ground was still dyed blood-red.
A hint of sadness flashed in Jeremy Night's eyes. He took a pause and observed the place, then recollected his thoughts and started walking on.
Meanwhile, there were spies outside the main gate belonging to the Red Moon Chamber. There were also spies from other forces working there.
The men of Elder Stephen watched Jeremy Night entering the wilderness. They didn't follow him; instead, they reported to Elder Stephen.
They then received orders from Elder Stephen to watch if anyone else was following Jeremy Night. They waited and saw that no one went after him.
On the other hand, the spies from the Darkshade Organization had recognized Jeremy Night.
They had already received orders to follow him. Robert Hill, the Head of the Beast Taming Family, was not happy with them; he wanted Jeremy Night dead.
They had been looking for Jeremy Night there, but they didn't expect him to enter the wilderness today. The spies reported back to the higher-ups. The higher-ups were shocked.
They knew Beast Tamers were returning to the wilderness, but they had not seen any Tier-3 Beast Tamer going alone. Jeremy Night was the first one, which spoke to his confidence.
The higher-ups immediately dispatched an expert team to kill Jeremy Night this time. The last two teams had disappeared and were believed to be dead.
...
Time passed.
Jeremy Night soon encountered the first corrupted beasts. They were dog corrupted beasts, whose population is large in this wilderness.
He unsheathed his blade and began to observe the surroundings. The dog beasts were Tier-3 and Tier-4.
They were present in good numbers, trying to surround him. Jeremy understood that they were going to attack.
He gripped the handle tightly. The dog beasts darted out, rushing towards him.
Boom!
In a flash, a Tier-4 dog beast reached him.
Slash!
He swung his blade. The strike was exact and deliberate. The blade swept across the body of the beast. A clean cut was made, and a wide, long wound appeared on the beast's body.
Puchak!
A torrent of blood gushed forth from the wound. Jeremy quickly moved towards the next beast and swung the blade again.
Cut!
The blade flashed in the air. With terrific precision, the blade made a clean cut. The dog beast collapsed onto the ground.
Puchak!
The blood from the beast's wound leaked out, forming a pool of blood in the blink of an eye.
Quiet!
Silence filled the ground. The dog beasts paused. They looked at the enemy with wariness.
The Tier-4 beasts, in particular, felt the enemy was weaker than them, yet he had been able to kill two of their kin easily.
