Chapter 798 - 798: A week passed by
5th Zone, Wilderness
The Back Garden
Jeremy Night met with Head Neil Moon that night in the back garden.
"Kid, you are thinking too much," Neil Moon said.
He then sat beside him on the stone bench.
"You have participated in previous battles. Somehow we were able to protect the city. Even our city survived the attack from the Colossal Beast."
"But it took enormous efforts and sacrifices to drive them away," Neil said.
"Yet, not every battle result goes our way. The Governors were caught off guard. They didn't expect a sudden beast tide would occur from the unexplored region."
"One mistake caused this much damage. The Lords from the Human Alliance saved the day. But they won't be present here every time."
"It's the job of the rest of us to be vigilant and to make sure not to repeat the mistake," he further explained.
Head Neil Moon discussed things with him until his clogged mind cleared.
He felt a lot better after speaking with him. Head Neil was then ready to leave the city; he was going back to the 10th Zone.
Jeremy told him not to tell his parents about the death and destruction here. To that, old man Neil Moon smiled. It was something that couldn't be hidden.
"All the media houses are reporting on this matter. The news has spread across the zones. Everyone is discussing the beasts' attack."
"It's important for everyone to learn from each other," Neil Moon said.
Jeremy didn't say anything further. He watched him leave the building.
"The little chat helped," he thought.
He then turned around and entered the building. In the lobby, the members were busy. He looked for Sister Melinda, but she was not there.
He took his device out and tried to contact her, but the call did not go through. He tried a few times.
Yet, she didn't answer the call. Jeremy then went back to his room.
Days passed,
The frontline Beast Tamers returned. The Beast Tide was stopped. Not even the corrupted beasts from the wilderness were attacking them anymore.
The City was returning to normalcy. The damaged buildings were being reconstructed at a faster rate.
Emergency resources were released by the administration. The prices of many resources dropped. Especially the price of healing resources became cheaper.
Because of it, many locals and medium-sized forces were able to afford them. It prevented any potential protests and other disruptions.
...
Hill Family
The whole Hill Family was yet to recover from the shock and damage. They had lost many Beast Tamers in the battle.
Not only that, but the young heir Tyson Hill was nowhere to be seen. Everyone in the family knew that Tyson Hill was killed by a lightning strike.
But no one was saying it aloud. They were afraid of the Family Head. The Family Head, Robert Hill, was in denial. He couldn't believe his son was dead.
Just then, someone from the Darkshade Organization contacted him. Robert Hill, in his room, picked up the device in a hurry.
He answered the call. He wanted to know if there were clues about his son's disappearance.
"Did you find out anything?" Robert asked.
"We didn't find any clues. Our higher-ups are saying that lightning strikes from the beasts killed many people," the person on the phone said.
Hearing that, Robert's heart turned cold. The last hope left in his heart disappeared. Robert then slowly came to his senses and began to accept reality.
Then, something else struck his mind.
"What about my previous task?" Robert asked.
Hearing that, the person on the phone was silent. He knew what Robert Hill was talking about.
"The Beast Tide caught us off guard. We will resume the mission soon," the person said.
Robert Hill lost his temper.
"Is that kid still alive?" he asked.
He recalled seeing the Red Moon Chamber Head during the battle. He remembered that person didn't take him seriously.
"Yes, he is alive. He was spotted inside the Red Moon Chamber," the person replied.
Hearing that, Robert Hill grew angrier. His son was dead, yet his son's enemy was still alive. He had given the kill task some time ago.
Yet, the Darkshade members had failed to complete the task.
"I don't know what you are going to do. I want the kid dead," Robert Hill said.
The person on the phone agreed. Robert Hill then ended the call in anger. He couldn't believe the Darkshade Organization let the kid live.
...
Red Moon Chamber
Jeremy Night was in his room. It had been a week since the incident. He had been practicing alone.
From time to time, he checked in with Sister Melinda. He had been worried about her earlier, but she was doing fine.
The Tier-3 Beast Tamers, Freya and Theo, had recovered as well, but they were yet to pick up any Beast Taming missions.
However, Jeremy wanted to do a mission. He decided to go to the Beast Taming Association today. He had confirmed that everyone had started doing missions again.
A week's time was enough. After getting ready, he left the room. He looked good, and his mood was brighter.
He came to the lobby and saw that the members were going about their business. The atmosphere was okay, but there was some gloominess; it was hard to forget the loss.
Just as he reached the gate, he found the staff were looking at him. He nodded to them before going outside.
He approached a car and walked up to the driver. The driver asked for the destination.
Jeremy told the driver to take him to the Beast Taming Association. The driver agreed. He then entered the car and sat down.
Shortly afterwards, the car departed. It headed towards the Beast Taming Association.
Right then, the staff informed Head Harold about Jeremy Night's departure.
Head Harold was not surprised. He knew it was only a matter of time before Jeremy picked up a mission.
He was not worried about Jeremy Night himself, but he thought the Darkshade Organization would not remain silent.
He called Elder Stephen to his room.
When Stephen came to see him, Harold told him to look after Jeremy Night. But Stephen had already dispatched people to track Jeremy.
Elder Stephen knew the Darkshade Organization could continue their mission at any time.
